Harry Maguire’s fiancee blasts ‘lying’ cops for ‘trying to ruin his reputation’ and saying ‘he’ll never play again’

HARRY Maguire’s fiancee has slammed “lying” Greek cops for trying to ruin the Man Utd star’s “reputation”.
Fern Hawkins, who was in Mykonos with the centre-back at the time of the brawl, launched into a passionate defence of her boyfriend today.

Fern Hawkins has leapt to her fiance’s defence

    7

It came following claims made by a cop at his trial today that £85million Utd captain Maguire boasted “Don’t you know who I am” when he was arrested.
Fern wrote on Twitter: “These people are trying their best to ruin Harry’s reputation & anyone who believes these lies are deluded.
“Harry knew they knew exactly who he was as they repeatedly beat him moments before, shouting his football career is over & that he would never play again.
    “Makes me sick.”

Maguire was famously snapped with Fern Hawkins following England’s win over Colombia

The couple have two children together
Her tweet has been liked by hundreds of supporters – including Towie star Sam Faiers and Man Utd fans.
Maguire allegedly told cops after his arrest: “Do you know who I am? I am the captain of Manchester United, I am very rich, I can give you money, I can pay you, please let us go”.
But he has been defended online by his brother Laurence, who called the cop making the allegations “crazy”.
Sky Sport pundit and ex-footballer Jamie Carragher also hit out at the claims, tweeting: “Absolute b******s! Every story/rumour someone tells about a footballer always starts with ‘Do you know who I am?’

“I’ve never once heard any player say that!!”

Maguire and Hawkins met in 2011
Fern has been dating Maguire for over nine years after they first got together in June 2011.
She posted a loved-up shot of the couple enjoying some together in Mykonos before the late-night brawl.
The science graduate, who has two baby daughters with Maguire, captioned the sweet photo: “Holidays with you” followed by a love heart.
The claims were made at a court in Syros today where Maguire, brother Joe and pal Chris Sharman are currently on trial over a drunken brawl.
The trial heard how Maguire’s younger sister Daisy was injected in the arm by Albanian men, which caused her to faint.

Laurence with Maguire at the World Cup
Maguire and his group asked to be taken to hospital after the incident, but were driven to a police station instead – as the Albanian men fled.
Once at the police station, officers allegedly kicked Maguire on the leg and told him: “Your career is over”.
Dad Alan has travelled to the court on the Greek island of Syros today to support his sons.
But none of the defendants – including Maguire – are in court today and are instead being represented by their legal team.
Utd captain Maguire, 27, footballer brother Joe, 28, and pal Chris Sharman are all charged with assault and violence against an officer.
The brothers are further charged with attempted bribery, while Maguire and Chris are accused of verbal assault.

    They deny the charges.
The bribery charges carry a maximum sentence of up to five years in jail and a fine.
But the group are able to appeal the decision in a higher court if they are found guilty today.

HARRY Maguire should have had security to protect him from a brawl there are always “idiots who want a pop”, ex-footballer Danny Murphy says.

He had been taunted by rival fans during a three-day drinking session that ended with his sister being stabbed with a metal straw.
Ex-Liverpool and Spurs legend Murphy said he hopes the drama will be a “harsh lesson” for Maguire.
Writing in the Mail on Sunday, he said: “This isn’t something new. It’s always happened.
“When you are playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world, no matter where you go, you are always going to get some idiots who want to have a pop.”

Maguire spent a boozy three days partying with celeb pals including Love Island’s Chris Hughes and teammates Jesse Lingard, 27, and Brandon Williams, 19.

Ex-England star Murphy said he ended up “having a few altercations” as his profile grew – causing him to take his doorman uncle away for lads’ holidays.

He wrote: “What baffles me is why these lads are not learning.
“So far in his professional career, Maguire has been someone who has conducted himself very well. He has not got a catalogue of incidents behind him. He is a quiet lad by all accounts, not someone who surrounds himself with trouble-makers.
“We need to know the full details before we pass judgement, but if your family or loved ones, whether your sister or your girlfriend, have been put in danger then you are going to react. If that did happen, then I don’t think the majority will turn against him.
“Hopefully, this will be a harsh lesson for him, he learns from it and nothing like this happens again.”

    “Harry should have someone there.
“He’s quite a normal lad; he’ll watch Sheffield United when he can, he’ll go and have a beer with his friends.
“But there’s always someone out there. You can’t do it anymore. You can get yourself into a situation.
“Having security around you is necessary.”

Harry Maguire ‘could pay £90,000 to avoid jail over Mykonos brawl’

If he is found guilty he could potentially swerve a possible three-year-sentence by paying half a week’s wages.
The Man Utd captain had been held in a cell for two nights after being arrested following the alleged fight outside a bar on the party island of Mykonos on Friday.
Now , the Sunday Mirror reports that Maguire, if convicted, could pay a daily sum to avoid being sent to jail, as part of a scheme to prevent overcrowding in Greek prisons.
Greek lawyer Panagiotis Petropoulos, vice president of the Piraeus Bar Association, told the Sunday Mirror: “The maximum theoretical sentencing could be up to seven-and-a-half years.

“It is understood the total would more likely be three years because a court would sentence concurrently.
“However, in the Greek penal system any sentence up to three years can be bought on a per day basis, meaning Mr Maguire can pay a set fee to avoid any jail time.”
According to the Mirror, this could mean a fine of €100 a day, but it could be as low as $5 with all fees decided by the judge.
Spread across three years, it could add up to £90,000 – though this is just a fraction of the footballer’s weekly salary of £190,000.

Harry was holidaying with fiancee Fern
It comes as The Sun reported that it is claimed that the England star, 27, and others racked up a £63,000 bar tab in a five-hour session.
Maguire, who mainly drinks beer, downed booze and scoffed lobster with footballers including Chelsea’s Ross Barkley, 26, and Manchester United team-mate Brandon Williams, 19.
They were also joined by Love Island star Chris Hughes, 27, snooker ace Judd Trump, 31, and Harry’s brother Joe, who plays for Accrington Stanley.
The bill was split between a number of football stars and pals. Maguire’s amount was thought to be a fraction of the overall spending.
A source said: “Harry has been drinking like crazy since he arrived on Mykonos.
“He’s been spending a fortune on booze and just doesn’t seem to stop. He seemed upset about something. It was non-stop.’’
Maguire and his entourage sank bottles of vintage champagne, firework-decorated cocktails and spirits at the exclusive SantAnna beach bar.
    ‘NIGHTCLUB BRAWL’
The footie ace and two pals were accused of brawling with rival fans and cops outside a nightclub.
Police said they continued scrapping at the station before allegedly offering officers bribes to drop the case.
A spokesperson for the Greek police said: “Patrolling police officers in the area of Mykonos intervened to settle a dispute between a group.
“However, three foreigners involved in the incident turned against them, insulting and hitting a police officer with fists.
“The three foreigners were taken to the Mykonos Police Station, where upon their arrival they strongly resisted, pushing and beating three police officers.

“Then one of the detainees tried to offer money so the process against them would not be completed.’’
He flew to Mykonos after Manchester United lost to Sevilla in the Europa League semi-final last Sunday.
It was his side’s third semi-final loss this season after exiting the FA and Carabao Cups at the same stage.

The pair were joined by Love Island star Chris Hughes, 27, as well as Manchester United teammate Brandon Williams, 19, snooker player Judd Trump, 31, and Maguire’s brother Joe.
The £190,000-a-week centre-back Maguire, 27, racked up huge booze bills as he partied on the Greek island of Mykonos.
The Sun reported that Maguire must apologise for allegedly brawling with Brits after his sister was reportedly stabbed in the arm before returning to the UK.

The Man Utd captain had been held in a cell for two nights after being arrested following the fight outside a bar in Mykonos on Friday.
The England star, 27, didn’t comment as he left the court on the island of Syros today wearing a white shirt, baseball cap and face mask.
When asked whether Maguire was still a free man, his lawyer told Sky News: “Right now, yes.”

It is understood Maguire will now return to the UK ahead of a hearing on Tuesday, which he does not have to attend.

In an statement earlier today, Manchester United said: “Following the appearance in court today we note the adjournment of the case to allow the legal team to consider the case file.
“Harry has pleaded not guilty to the charges. It would be inappropriate for the player or club to comment further while the legal process takes its course”.

One eyewitness told The Sun: “There was a group of guys who had been chanting at Harry on Wednesday night, but it was a bit of banter.
“On Thursday they were more aggressive, saying, ‘F*** United’.
“They were trying to wind him up. They were also trying to mess around with a group of girls there.
“Harry got upset. They told Harry, ‘F*** United’ again and a brawl started with Harry’s mates.
“As they fell to the ground Harry was kicking the guys in the back. The girls were screaming.
“Two police officers nearby came to try and break it up and Harry got really p***ed off with them.
“He was telling them, ‘Go f*** yourselves, this is none of your business.’

They were trying to wind him up. They were also trying to mess around with a group of girls there.

“They tried to arrest him and Harry started hitting the police. They had to call for back- up.
“Two or three more police came but Harry was so strong and upset that they couldn’t pin him down.
“He was screaming at them, they had a really hard time — at least one police officer was hurt.
“It took more than five officers to get him down.”
Earlier on Thursday, Maguire’s girlfriend Fern Hawkins had posted a picture of the couple on Instagram with the caption: “Holidays with you.”
Exclusive video obtained by The Sun shows him partying with team-mates Lingard, 27, and Brandon Williams, 19.
Others there included Love Island star Chris Hughes, 27, snooker ace Judd Trump, 31, and Lottie Moss, 22, the sister of supermodel Kate.

Maguire had spent the afternoon at flash SantAnna beach bar where he was seen boozing by the pool.
Tables at the swanky club cost around £1,000 each for an afternoon and the beds around £500 each.
The venue also offers a Midas-size bottle of “ultra-premium” Armand de Brignac Brut Gold, which comes with a helicopter ride through the Cycladic Islands, for an eye-watering 125,000 euros (£112,000).
Clips filmed at 6pm show topless Maguire pouring himself a large Jack Daniel’s and Coke at the poolside bar.

He was drinking with a group of team-mates and celebs, including Lottie Moss
One reveller said: “The group had booked four tables and several beds, and they were knocking back bottles of spirits and champagne.
“They partied all afternoon until about 8pm when there was a bit of a scuffle with a guy in a Man City shirt.
“A friend of Maguire’s brother got into a row with him, and all the players stepped up to defend him. They were shouting and pointing aggressively.
“A few minutes later, their security guards ushered them all out.”
By then the group had knocked back several bottles of Jack Daniel’s at £280 a pop, bottles of £750 Hennessy Cognac, £315 bottles of Ciroc vodka as well as “gallons” of champagne.
Maguire then made his way to Bonbonniere bar in trendy Fabrika at around 8pm where sister Daisy added a clip of him to her Instagram.
The VIP club sells high-end booze such as Grey Goose vodka for up to 1,500 euros (£1,350) a bottle.

It is believed that the brawl happened at 12.30am on Friday in the street outside.
The island has a strict midnight curfew on clubs due to coronavirus fears and police heavily patrol the streets to enforce it.
Local police raced to the scene, but the situation escalated when it is claimed two men in Maguire’s group shouted abuse at the officers and struck at least one of them.
One eyewitness told The Sun: “Maguire was grappling with four cops and they just couldn’t bring him down – he’s a strong guy.
“As far as I know, the fight started because his group had been yelled at by some idiots who obviously weren’t United fans.”
Other footage has emerged of the star enjoying a boozy break on the luxury Greek island before the new season kicks off next month.
One video, which appears to have been shot on Wednesday, shows Maguire in a crowded bar posing for pictures with fans.
Maguire can be seen smiling as he checks his phone while a group of lads sing football chants behind him.

The defender also encountered Love Island’s Chris Hughes on Wednesday night.
The reality star shared a photo of Maguire in his Instagram story on Wednesday showing the beaming footballer clutching a shot glass.
Hughes had his own trouble in Mykonos after he was left with a gash inches from his eye following a boozy accident on Wednesday.
The star is on a lads holiday in Greece with snooker champion Judd Trump.
Maguire popped up in videos taken at Trump’s birthday bash on Thursday.
The defender could be seen in a group of people topless while bobbing along to music by a swimming pool.
The clip was shared on snooker player Oliver Lines’ Instagram story.

And his partner Fern Hawkins posted an Instagram shot of the pair enjoying some time together 15 hours ago.
Fern, who has two baby daughters with Maguire, captioned the sweet photo: “Holidays with you” followed by a love heart.
A statement from Utd said: “The club is aware of an alleged incident involving Harry Maguire in Mykonos last night.
“Contact has been made with Harry and he is fully co-operating with the Greek authorities.
“At this time we will be making no further comment.”

It comes after Utd suffered yet another painful semi-final defeat – this time to Sevilla in the Europa League.
Had they won, Utd would have faced Inter Milan in the final last night in Germany.
Maguire said he was “devastated’ by the early exit on Sunday.
The Sheffield-born star became the world’s most expensive defender when he signed for Utd from Leicester City for £85million in August last year.
He was named captain in January this year following Ashley Young’s departure to Inter Milan.
But his position as captain could now be called into question following his alleged arrest.

He is next due to play at Old Trafford for their first game of the season on September 19 against Crystal Palace.
The row also comes a week before disciplinarian England manager Gareth Southgate names his Three Lions squad to play against Iceland and Denmark in September.
Maguire has made 26 appearances for England and was a key part of the team’s journey to the World Cup semi-finals in 2018.
