During their shared time at Ferrari, Schumacher won five consecutive F1 world titles from 2000 to 2004.
It comes as Schumacher’s wife broke down in tears with the F1 legend was honoured with an award at an emotional ceremony on Wednesday.
The Ferrari icon was awarded the State Prize of North Rhine-Westphalia.
His son Mick, who drives for F1 outfit Haas, was unable to attend due to illness.
But Michael’s wife Corinna, 53, and daughter Gina-Maria, 25, were present to accept the honour on his behalf.
And they were joined on stage by none other than Todt himself.
Those in attendance at the ceremony paid tribute to Schumacher with a standing ovation.
And the gesture led to Corinna breaking down in tears in what was an incredibly poignant moment.
After the event, Todt tweeted: “An emotional ceremony in Cologne to honour Michael Schumacher’s outstanding career and charitable streak with Corinna, Gina, Mick Schumacher and Henrik Wust.
“I met Michael 30 years ago, with Ferrari, living his passion and bringing joy to millions of us!”
The ceremony was organised to honour the life of one of the greatest – if not the greatest – drivers of all time.

“Our baby boy, you are our angel. We will always love you.”
He posted the devastating image online this evening, alongside translations in Portuguese and Spanish.
Before Georgina fell pregnant, Ronaldo was already a dad of four, with three of his children born to two surrogate mothers.
In October, he and Georgina shared a cute snap of themselves holding their baby scans, captioned: “Delighted to announce we are expecting twins.
“Our hearts are full of love – we can’t wait to meet you.”
    HEARTBREAKING LOSS
Ronaldo is a dad to Cristiano Jr, 11, twins Eva and Mateo, four, and three-year-old Alana Martina, who Georgina gave birth to.
And his newborn daughter now makes him a father-of-five.
The Portugal superstar met Georgina in 2016 when she worked in a Gucci store in Madrid for £10 an hour.
It’s believed she caught his eye in the VIP area of a Dolce & Gabbana event.
Georgina has followed the five-time Ballon d’Or winner from Madrid to Turin and then Manchester, as he left Real Madrid for Juventus and United.
Ronaldo posted the devastating news online this evening, alongside translations in Portuguese and Spanish
The pair said they were devastated at the death of their son
Ronaldo is now a father-of-five following the sad news about his baby boy
Just days ago, she was pictured posing in a pink dress in an old school yellow Corvette.
In March this year, she gushed on Instagram about Ronaldo being the “best dad in the world” along with adorable snaps of their gorgeous family.
Ronaldo’s sister Katia Aveiro wrote a heartbreaking tribute tonight after the tragic news came to light.
She wrote on Instagram: “I love you and my heart is with you over there.
“May God take care of you and strengthen your path more and more.
“Our little angel is already on father’s lap.
Read our Cristiano Ronaldo live blog here
“And our little girl who is here firm and strong and healthy will teach us more and more that only love matters.”
Tributes poured in for Ronaldo and his family following the devastating announcement.
Man Utd ace Marcus Rashford said: “Thoughts are with you and Georgina brother. I’m so sorry.”
Piers Morgan added: “Desperately sad news.”
“Terribly sad news. Sincere condolences to you and your family,” Gary Lineker tweeted.
Olympic champion runner Usain Bolt also commented, leaving three praying hand emojis on Cristiano’s post.
The official Manchester United account wrote on social media: “Your pain is our pain.
“Sending love and strength to you and the family at this time.”
Georgina previously gave birth to her daughter Alana Martina at the University Hospital Quironsalud Madrid in the Spanish capital.
And it was believed that she may have chosen the same hospital to give birth to the twins – however, the pair have not confirmed anything.

He was released on bail pending further investigation yesterday, but hasn’t been seen since.
Greenwood was suspended indefinitely from Utd hours after the allegations surfaced on social media.
Manager Rangnick touched on his striker’s arrest today at a press conference ahead of tomorrow’s FA Cup clash with Middlesbrough.
He suggested players have been discussing the incident when asked if it had been “distracting”.
The German added: “We had a good normal week of training with five training sessions including today’s training, obviously it was a topic within the team but they’re human beings and Mason was part of the group before we had our break.
“It was a good week of training, we could train under normal circumstances and we are looking forward to the game tomorrow.”

Rangnick, who took the reigns at the Premier League club last year, also hinted at Utd being forced to hold showdown squad talks after Greenwood’s arrest.
Jesse Lingard had been rumoured to be leaving in the January transfer window after warming the bench for the majority of the season.
But Rangnick confirmed Greenwood’s arrest was one of the factors in the midfielder staying at the club.
He said: “In a way [Greenwood was a factor], yes, but the club told me, the board told me, they couldn’t find an agreement with any clubs interested in him.
“With the window closing Monday evening the board informed me they would rather he stay, so I could understand and accept. It was two things.
“We had a problem with Mason Greenwood and being without a player for the time being who hasn’t played in weeks and the club not finding an agreement with another club.”
    MASON ARREST
It comes as Greenwood’s teammates returned to training today after the winter break minus the No11.
The £75,000-a-week footballer was taken into custody on Sunday after police swooped on his home.
Security staff, thought to have been provided by Utd, were present at a second home he owns nearby and they confirmed that his parents were inside.
In a statement, Man Utd said: “Manchester United reiterates its strong condemnation of violence of any kind.
“As previously communicated, Mason Greenwood will not train with, or play for, the club until further notice.”
A source confirmed Greenwood will still receive his wages while on suspension.

Jimmy Greaves called ‘greatest England forward ever’ in touching tribute from Sir Geoff Hurst to former 1966 teammate

JIMMY Greaves has been hailed as “the greatest England forward ever” in a touching tribute by his former 1966 teammate Sir Geoff Hurst.Tributes have poured in for the Spurs goalscoring hero, who had been battling dementia for a number of years and has died at the age of 81.

Hurst, who replaced Greaves in the 1966 team and scored a hat-trick in the final triumph over West Germany, says Greaves was simply the greatest English forward there has ever been.
“There have been some great players but forwards are judged on goals, and there’s nobody who could touch him,” he said.
“I am asked is there any animosity between Jimmy and I, because I took his place? But not for one second.
“You hear the term genius, and it is the one word which applies to Jimmy.”
Spurs said in a statement said: “We are extremely saddened to learn of the passing of the great Jimmy Greaves.
“We extend our deepest sympathies to Jimmy’s family and friends at this sad time. Rest in peace, Jimmy.”

Greaves was one of the most prolific top flight goalscorers the English and world game has seen.
After retiring from the game he went on to have a second career on TV, presenting the hugely popular ‘Saint and Greavsie’ football show with Ian St John, who himself died earlier this year.
Soon after his death was announced, tributes began to be paid by past and present footballers.
Current Spurs and England striker Harry Kane paid tribute to “true legend and one of the great goalscorers”.
Arsenal legend Ian Wright described how he was urged to copy Greaves as a youngster.
“The first footballers name I ever heard from my teacher. ‘No Ian! Finish like Jimmy Greaves’ May he rest in peace,” he tweeted.
England manager Gareth Southgate said there will be tribute to Greaves when the team play Hungary at Wembley next month.
“Jimmy Greaves was someone who was admired by all who love football, regardless of club allegiances,” he said.
“I was privileged to be able to meet Jimmy’s family last year at Tottenham Hotspur as the club marked his 80th birthday. My thoughts are with them and I know the entire game will mourn his passing.

“Jimmy certainly deserves inclusion in any list of England’s best players, given his status as one of our greatest goalscorers and his part in our 1966 World Cup success.”
Greaves suffered a stroke in May 2015 which left him wheelchair-bound and with severely impaired speech.
Tottenham said he had died at home on Sunday morning.
The club paid tribute to Greaves’ “phenomenal strike rate”.
He was England’s greatest top-flight goalscorer by a country mile, despite retiring from the professional game at 31, which made him more remarkable still.
Greaves was leading scorer in the English top flight in six different seasons.
He also held the all-time record of 366 goals in Europe’s top five leagues, which stood for no less than 46 years.
It was only eclipsed by Cristiano Ronaldo during Real Madrid’s superb 2016-17 campaign.
Yet he was no mere goal machine, remarkable only for an avalanche of statistics.
He was also a much-loved TV presenter, a professional TV critic, a stand-up comedian, a supremely gifted anecdotist and raconteur as well an inspirational fighter against alcoholism.
    ‘NOBODY COULD TOUCH HIM’
James Peter Greaves, born the son of a Tube driver in Manor Park, East London, on February 20th 1940.
He was a teenage sensation at Chelsea and an early pioneer overseas in a brief spell at AC Milan.
But he is probably best known as an insatiable goal-scorer during nine years at Tottenham, where he would win two FA Cups.
He was also part of the first British team to win a European trophy when Spurs picked up the Cup Winner’s Cup in 1963.
Greaves was an outstanding dribbler capable of Messi-esque individual efforts, yet he elevated the goal poaching into an art form.
While his England scoring record was outstanding, Greaves would be a spectator for the greatest game in his nation’s history, the 1966 World Cup Final, after suffering a gashed shin in the final group match against France.
For the quarter-final, he was replaced by Geoff Hurst, who scored the winner against Argentina.
When Greaves was only approaching full fitness by the time of the final against West Germany, Alf Ramsey stuck with Hurst and the rest was history.
