Fury survived being sent to the canvas TWICE in the fourth round before knocking the Bronze Bomber out in the 11th round of an instant classic.

The win saw the 33-year-old retain his WBA heavyweight belt, while moving to 31-0-1.

And describing his meteoric rise in a manner that only he can, Fury likened himself to the world’s most famous gorilla.

He told 5 Live: “I’m all right you know. I could go another 12 rounds not a problem, fit as a fiddle, healthy as a trout.

“I was listening to what [coach] Sugarhill [Steward] was saying in rounds nine, 10 and 11 and he was like this should be done now, get him out of here and he was like the big dog gets them out of there and that’s what you are meant to do.

“I appreciate all of the support all through the years. I used to be a handsome rogue but now I’m just a bald-headed fat fella who can fight like King Kong.”

Fury was behind on the scorecards at the bout’s halfway point, but took control to secure a memorable victory.

After his win, the Morecambe-based champ roared: “I can only be the best fighter of my day, and I’ve done that.

“I’m the best fighter of my era.

“I’m the generation fighter, I actually feel sorry for all these guys who have had to fight me.

“Because I’m in the dressing room at home I’m not nervous – you know it’s a boxing fight to me.

“I feel sorry for them because they’re fighting the fighter of the generation, that’s for sure.”

After the bout Fury partied the night away with wife Paris and little brother Tommy.

While Wilder’s trainer Malik Scott urged his man to take a long break from boxing.

Scott also revealed that his fighter broke his hand and a finger during the gruelling bout.
