Braithwaite’s personal and professional life could hardly have been more of a rollercoaster in recent weeks.

Barcelona paid LaLiga rivals Leganes £15milion for the 28-year-old on February 20 after emergency permission to make a signing outside the transfer window.

But he played just three league games, without scoring, before Covid-19 forced football to shut down.

And when Barca players had to take a huge pay cut, Braithwaite’s Nou Camp career seemed in doubt even before he had settled down.

The ex-Boro man was linked with West Ham and Everton amid reports Barcelona are ready to sell him this summer to reduce costs – even though he is thought to have impressed Nou Camp team-mates.

Now, though, with Spain still severely hit by the coronavirus, Braithwaite has another – but this time happy – reason for football to be just a secondary thought.

He and Anne-Laure looked blissfully content in the photos they posted on social media with Valentino.
