Sheffield Wednesday made favourites for QuaranTeam FIFA 20 ahead of Man City, Newcastle and Roma


FOOTBALL may be suspended but fans are still finding ways of satisfying their love of the game – and laying down some cash on it.

Leyton Orient’s QuaranTeam tournament will involve 128 professional teams from around the world represented by a player of their choosing to help raise thousands of pounds for charity.

And Championship club Sheffield Wednesday have been named favourites for the upcoming tournament by the bookies.

Ladbrokes have the Owls down at 4/1 after they gave season ticket holder and pro-gamer Delee the controller for their campaign – starting against Cambridge United.

Just behind are 9/1-rated Roma and French team Angers, represented by another pro, IFY Sneaky.

Completing the top five are Ajax and Watford at 14/1 with Mansfield (16/1) and Newcastle (25/1) among those further back.

A number of teams have selected first-team players to represent them, including Norwich and Brighton as Todd Cantwell and Neal Maupay are handed the controller by their teams.

The first-round match-up of Crystal Palace and Reading will also see two footballers go head to head, Andros Townsend and Tom McIntyre.

Also offering their services for when games are streamed have been Match of the Day commentator Guy Mowbray and Love Island voiceover Ian Stirling.

So far, almost £30,000 has been raised for clubs struck down by the coronavirus as well as mental health charity MIND and the World Health Organiastion’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fundraiser.
