I could do with him at the whips’ office!”However, before starting his playing career, he completed a degree in medical science, which he is now putting to use in his investigative work.Police work is like football, it’s still very much a team effort.”Arjan De Zeuuw, 54In 2014, he told BBC Sport: “I was looking at something else other than football.”I’ve been in football that long and I thought I just need to look at the world a bit more.”So I tried to get back into my medical studies and I bumped into a friend of mine who was a detective in Alkmaar, where we are now.”Arjan continued: “It’s challenging. The good thing is it’s like football, it’s still very much a team effort.”You’ll hardly ever solve a crime on your own.”However, despite leaving the beautiful game behind as a career, he’s still joined up with the force’s team, who he generously described as “energetic”.He joked: “You have to be careful for your legs with these.”On top of that, he plays for the police’s national team, who qualified for the European final that year.Discussing how his footie skills have kept up, he chuckled: “I’m lacking a bit of speed and a little bit of touch, but the competitive edge is still there.”It’s possible he was just being modest though as he also recalled how his training came in handy when chasing down a suspect.READ MORE SUN STORIESThe ex-Prem defender outlasted him for stamina and made the arrest. He laughed: “I had enough pace to keep up.”Former football stars with interesting jobs

By Rob Pattinson, Senior District Reporter
A BRITISH nanny was praised yesterday for saving footie star Harry Kane’s children in a three-car smash.
A young driver in a Renault cut across their people carrier to turn into a junction — crunching into its front and sending both vehicles spinning towards an oncoming Land Rover Defender.
Despite its airbags being triggered, the nanny calmly brought the £100,000 Mercedes to a halt, steering clear of the out-of-control Renault and avoiding careering into the 4×4.
The quick-thinking nanny, 24, was said to be “left terrified”.
England and Bayern Munich ace Kane’s daughters Ivy, seven, and Vivienne, five and his eldest son Louis, three, were taken to hospital in Germany but found to be unharmed.
A source told The Sun: “The Kane’s nanny did an incredible job of protecting the children.
“None of this is her fault. She might be on German roads, but she had right-of-way. It was the German driver who cut across her path and smashed into her.
“She would only have had milliseconds to react.
“You can see from the pictures it was a serious smash, but the Kane children would have felt nothing other than a bang. She really has averted disaster.”

Under German law traffic cops could charge the motorist with “negligent assault” and if anyone was injured she could face up to three years behind bars. But officers are already said to be looking at the “lucky escape” as an accident – meaning the smash-driver could escape with a fine of just £100, despite nine people being involved. The smash set off airbags in the Mercedes Vito, understood to have been driven by the family’s nanny – a local familiar with German roads.A source told The Sun: “It was clearly the Renault that caused the crash. Harry Kane’s Mercedes had right-of-way and the other driver has cut across the van. Most read in Football“It doesn’t bear thinking about what might have happened if she had been going any faster.“If anyone was injured the driver could be prosecuted for negligent assault. ‘He’s good at it’ – Harry Kane tipped for stunning career change after Bayern Munich and England star retires“But incredibly, everyone was unharmed – so she will likely just get a fixed penalty notice and claims against her insurance.“She must have been stunned when she found out she smashed into the Bayern star’s car.”Information about the case has been restricted to high-level clearance among local cops because Kane is a prominent figure. In an update yesterday, ex-Spurs star Kane reassured his children were “fine”.The two other cars beaten up in the collisionCredit: Hohenschäftlarn volunteer fire departmentKane’s three kids were taken to hospital as a precaution – but the ex-Spurs striker confirmed everyone was ‘fine’Credit: Instagram @katekanexKane’s side drew 2-2 with Arsenal on Tuesday in the first-leg of the Champions League quarter-finalCredit: GettyA spokesman for the star said: “There was a crash, but the kids are fine, and none were injured.”No injuries at all.
