Olympics-style event WITHOUT drug-testing planned as ‘Enhanced Games’ slammed as ‘unsafe joke’

AN OLYMPICS-STYLE competition is in the works which would allow athletes to use performance enhancing drugs. The crazy idea comes from the mind of Australian entrepreneur Aron D’Souza who is the president of the newly proposed games.
The new games are intended to rival the Olympics
The yearly event has been named the ‘Enhanced Games’ and D’Souza is hoping to hold the first one in December of next year.
It has been born out of a group of scientists, doctors and athletes who have already expressed interest in joining the games.
The Enhanced Games will feature no drug testing and try to push the boundaries of what is capable within athletics.
Ausralia’s Olympic head, Anna Meares, has already spoken out against the proposed games.

The former Olympic gold medalist slammed the idea, she said: “It’s a joke, to be honest. Unfair, unsafe — I just don’t think this is the right way to go about sport.”
But D’Souza is adamant that the Enhanced Games will work and that it is the right direction for the sport.
He told the Australian Associated Press: “Athletes are adults and they have a right to do with their body what they wish – my body, my choice; your body, your choice,
“And no government, no paternalistic sports federation, should be making those decisions for athletes – particularly around products that are FDA regulated and approved.”

The games are expected to cover five different sporting categories with track and field, gymnastics, swimming, weightlifting and combat sports all included.
D’Souza is looking to smash world records and thinks that the new games would have further impact outside of sport too.
He said: “It’s not just a question of can we break the nine-second 100 metre, I am sure we will,
“I want to see a 40, 50, 60-year-old break world records because performance medicine is the rod to anti-ageing, it’s the route to the fountain of youth.
“Nothing will improve the productivity of our society more than preventing ageing. It sounds like science fiction now but we live in the future, look at the rise of artificial intelligence and other technologies.” More

Della Pascoe dead at 74: Two-time Olympian and former British record holder dies after battle with Parkinson’s Disease

According to Athletics Weekly, she passed away yesterday after suffering from Parkinson’s Disease for a few years.
Born in Southsea in 1949, Pascoe – initially Della James – excelled at youth level winning various English schools titles.
She went to Mexico 1968 aged just 19 and reached the 100m semi-finals.
However, it was in the quarters that she made history by equalling Dorothy Hyman’s British record with a time of 11.3 seconds.

Pascoe also formed one leg of the 4x200m team that broke the world record in 1968.
Four years later at the Munich 1972 Olympics, she was knocked out of the 200m in the quarter-finals and finished seventh in the 4x100m final.
She won a further 12 medals at the Women’s AAA national championships.
However, Pascoe was controversially snubbed for the 1974 Commonwealth Games – despite finishing on the podium in the 100m and 200m trials.

Some suggested it was due to her marrying outspoken fellow athlete Alan Pascoe, whom she met as a teenager.
Pascoe said in 2017: “Alan and I met at the running track in Portsmouth.
“I had to slow down for him to catch me.”
Following the Commonwealth heartache, Pascoe subsequently retired and spent time as an art teacher and did lots of charity work, specifically raising money through popular garden parties.
Della and Alan had two children together, daughter Lucy and son Daniel. More

The 36-year-old won 100m gold at Beijing 2008 and London 2012 as well as 4x100m gold at Tokyo 2020 – as well as a further four silvers and a bronze in the last three Games.
But she swapped all of that Olympic legacy for the dusty track at sports day for her and husband Jason Pryce’s five-year-old son Zyon, born in August 2017.
The Jamaican star brutally left her fellow mums in her wake with a no-holding-back dash.
Fraser-Pryce burst away from the line as the other four desperately tried to stay within reach.

But they had absolutely no chance against the third-fastest woman EVER – whose personal best across 100m is a staggering 10.60 seconds.
The sprinter, decked out in a blue t-shirt and a backwards cap to keep her amazing dyed hair under control, blitzed along the straight-line track to wild cheers from the watching crowd while her rival parents battled it out for second place.
Fraser-Pryce even took to Facebook to celebrate maybe the easiest victory of her stellar career.
She wrote: “Every point counts,” followed by a series of emojis.

Another wrote: “I wish elite track and field athletes vs regular people was a TV show.”
A third commented: “This is bullying 😂😂😂 The parent who came second has a bragging right for life.”
And a user joked: “You didn’t have to do the parents like that.”
But one grumpy fan asked: “Why did she do that?” and a couple of other grinches criticised her for getting involved.
Fraser-Pryce’s win comes a month after Sir Mo Farah revealed the Olympic champion came second in a dads’ race – to a bloke wearing jeans.
Farah was even wearing his spikes for the 100m dash and admitted: “I can’t sprint.”
