Arsenal flop Willian wants Inter Miami move as Brazilian eyes joining Phil Neville and David Beckham in Florida

WILLIAN wants to join David Beckham’s Inter Miami. The Brazilian is set to leave Arsenal this summer after a disappointing spell in North London and fancies moving to South Florida.

SunSport understands Miami boss Phil Neville wants to sign the 32-year-old but knows it will be difficult to offload Mexcian international Rodolfo Pizarro first.
Pizarro is one of the highest earners and a designated player yet has failed to impress Neville, who is already eyeing a busy time in the transfer market once the window opens.
Willian will command big MLS wages – former Juventus and Real Madrid hitman Gonzalo Higuain earns around $5million – or £3.5m – so Pizarro will need to be sold despite a lack of suitors right now.
The Mexican international, signed by former boss Diego Alonso, was left on the bench last weekend with Federico Higuain preferred in midfield.
Willian has endured a torrid time at the Emirates since he signed a three-year contract at the club last summer.
The ex-Chelsea star, who is reportedly on £220,000-a-week at Arsenal, has managed just one Premier League goal for Mikel Arteta’s side this term.

Much more was expected of Willian after his six-and-a-half-year stint at Stamford Bridge, where he won the FA Cup, League Cup, Europa League and two Premier League titles.
The Gunners have confirmed another former Chelsea player, David Luiz, will leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the season.
And midfielder Matteo Guendouzi is reportedly close to signing for Ligue 1 side Marseille.
The Frenchman has spent the 2020-21 campaign on loan at Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin after falling out of favour at the Emirates.

Tyson Fury meets David Beckham as heavyweight watches Inter Miami lose to Montreal in mixed start for Phil Neville

TYSON FURY brought the thunder – in more ways than one.The Gypsy King is training in South Florida for his blockbuster showdown with Anthony Joshua this summer and decided to check out Phil Neville’s Inter Miami side at the nearby Drv Pnk Stadium.

Montreal cut Nev’s men down to size in the first half to leave them sprawling on the canvas and seemingly out for the count at 0-2 down.
But shortly after the break, wild lightning and rain storms KO’d the clash for over two hours as the often crazy Florida weather took hold.
Fury seemed to enjoy himself before the soggy stoppage, chatting to Bulgarian legend Hristo Stoichkov at half-time and happily posing for pictures with supporters.
But Beckham and pal Neville have certainly had better nights as Inter Miami were sunk in the deluge by the Canadian side who were great value for their second win of the season.
The game – which was halted at 8.43pm local time – finally resumed at 11.04pm and although most fans in a reduced crowd of 8,020 had gone home, a fair few stayed in the hope of witnessing the mother of all comebacks.
It didn’t happen despite a slightly improved showing after that nightmare opening 45 minutes and Neville, who could have gone top of the Eastern Conference with a win after a three match unbeaten streak, said: “The first half was unacceptable and we all take the blame, including myself.
“We have work to do but there’s no time to mope around. We have worked on compactness but looked ragged in the first half which was the most disappointing thing.
“Football has a way of knocking you back to the ground and this is a reality check.”

Becks was in the house hoping for a much needed victory following last weekend’s home 1-1 draw with Atlanta.
Instead he was left squirming – and squelching – with the fans as an early, double blast from Montreal’s Norwegian hitman Bjorn Johnsen totally deflated Miami hopes.
Both goals – on 14 and 25 minutes – saw Johnsen finish well, yet as a defensive unit the home side were found wanting.
Neville’s team, marshalled at the back by Stoke legend Ryan Shawcross, had looked solid in the opening games of the campaign but the backline was creaking last night.
And with the midfield and attack failing to fire once again, Montreal, who are currently based here in Fort Lauderdale because of Canadian COVID-19 restrictions, felt right at home as they ultimately eased to a comfortable win.
Brek Shea and Jay Chapman both went close before Johnsen’s killer second but in truth, Becks’ boys deserved nothing.

Neville has now lost two, won once and drawn twice in his opening five games and although the team have improved since the former Manchester United favourite arrived, this performance disappointed him.
Star men Blaise Matuidi, Gonzalo Higuain and Rodolfo Pizarro all failed to spark once again which is causing massive problems while Scottish ace Lewis Morgan was also quiet.
Mexican international Pizarro has been well below par this term and could be on his way out this summer if a buyer is found which would handily free up one of the three designated player slots.
Matuidi is also struggling and is yet to really show the kind of form which saw him win the World Cup with France in 2018.
Former Real Madrid and Juventus frontman Higuain always looks dangerous with the ball – but he was left banging his head against a brick wall here.
The Argentine ace was starved of possession and made little impact.

Neville said: “You need everyone to contribute to help the individuals play well but for our special players to get the accolades, you can’t do it on your own.
“I’ve seen it over the last 30 years, without the work ethic and team ethos, individuals don’t do well on their own.
“But they are big players and know what the expectations are.”
Higuain’s older brother Federico was thrown on at the break in the hope of creating something but just moments into the second half, the match was halted with lightning in the area.
The Inter Miami boss could have done with the whole game being canned.
Neville now travels to struggling Cincinnati and their brand new TQL Stadium on Sunday desperate to make immediate amends.
He added: “Credit to Montreal, they were the best team we have played so far but we have to be better this weekend.”

Inter Miami set to make shock Ashley Young free transfer swoop if he quits Inter Milan as he mulls over next move

SunSport exclusively revealed that Watford are keen on bringing back their former academy product.
It would be an emotional homecoming ahead of their return to the Premier League.
But David Beckham’s MLS franchise Miami also fancy signing the versatile veteran, who won the Premier League in 2013 with Manchester United.
Ambitious Miami are building an exciting squad having lured a number of high-profile players in recent windows, including boss Phil Neville.
Their squad includes World Cup winner Blaise Matuidi, ex-Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain, former Stoke hardman Ryan Shawcross.
But they know they have a battle on their hands with the Hornets in the race to secure Young’s services.
Young featured in 110 games for the Hornets between 2003-2007, scoring 22 goals including 15 strikes in the 2005-06 season.
And he has made no secret of his desire to retire at his former stomping ground.

Speaking on Watford’s ‘Golden Tales’ podcast in October, he said: “If I could go back and play there [at Watford] again, I would walk from Italy right now.
“Because it’s what I know, it’s where I come from and it’s what allowed me to be who I am and get where I am.
“For me, at my age now, and you can ask my family, you can ask my agent, if I had the opportunity to go back and finish my career at Watford, I would jump at the chance.”
Before adding: “I know what started my career. It was Watford.
“I always say and I will always say it’s my home.”

Phil Neville snaps up 18-year-old Man Utd academy star son Harvey at Inter Miami on permanent transfer but needs visa

Previously on the books at Manchester City and then Valencia before heading to United, he signed his first professional contract last summer.
But he wants some guaranteed first-team football and is swapping Old Trafford for South Florida.
Full-back Harvey has been training with his dad’s new team recently after getting some time off and has decided to make the switch permanently.
He will initially join Inter Miami’s sister team Fort Lauderdale CF once he sorts his visa.
Fort Lauderdale play in the USL – effectively the second tier in the United States.
But proud-as-punch Neville has been pleased with his progress and won’t rule out the chances of his lad making the step up to MLS and helping Miami owner David Beckham make waves Stateside sooner rather than later.
The youngster took to Instagram with a post in Inter Miami training gear on Wednesday.
He commented: “Let’s go,” as Beckham liked the photo while plenty of Red Devils youngsters commented their support and love.

Harvey joins fellow Englishman Ryan Shawcross in Miami while West Brom’s Kieran Gibbs arrives this summer.
Sunderland striker Mitch Curry, 21, has also signed for Fort Lauderdale recently.
Miami are currently sixth in the MLS Eastern Conference with one win, one draw and one defeat so far in the former Lionesses boss’ first season in charge.

Toronto FC have training session invaded by giant ALLIGATOR as MLS side prepare for CONCACAF Champions League in Florida

TORONTO FC’s preparation for tonight’s clash with Mexican giants Cruz Azul was rudely interrupted.. by a giant ALLIGATOR.The Canadian side, like the NBA’s Toronto Raptors, are having to play their home games in Florida this season, due to Covid-19 rules in their home country.
Toronto FC players watched on as training was interrupted by an ALLIGATOR
And nothing hammers home just how different their setting is, than being forced to make a snappy exit from training.
Florida is known for it’s giant ‘gators, with golf courses sometimes ambushed by the enormous creatures.
And Toronto’s squad, including former Hull City and Sunderland striker Jozy Altidore, could only watch on as their session was put on hold.
But rather than being frightened, Toronto coach Chris Armas described it as a ‘cool’ experience for his players.
He said: “All I can tell you is that there was an alligator – a massive alligator.
“My players were running towards it as I went the other way.
“We talk about fearless and aggressive around here – but I didn’t think we would think about that at this moment.
“It’s maybe par for the course here in Florida, by the water.

“It was cool for the guys to see really close up and personal – a cool way to start training.”

Former Real Madrid, Napoli and Juventus star Higuain was loaned to Chelsea by the Old Lady in January 2019.
He played 18 times and scored five times in blue before returning to Turin at the end of the campaign.
He only stayed another season before mutually terminating his Juve contract last September and signed for David Beckham’s Inter Miami soon after.
During his time at Stamford Bridge, the 33-year-old still had some hair on his head – albeit thinning.
And while he still had a beard, it was kept much neater and tidier than the monster growth he’s got on his chin now.
When images surfaced of Higuain training for Inter Miami fans online were stunned by his new look.
One wrote: “I refuse to believe this is Higuain.”
And another added: “Not sure of this is Higuain or Kratos.”
