David Beckham hopes to sign ex-Real Madrid team-mate Sergio Ramos for Inter Miami on free transfer next summer

DAVID BECKHAM wants to sign his former Real Madrid team-mate Sergio Ramos for Inter Miami, according to reports.
The Spanish defender, 34, is out of contract at the Bernabeu at the end of the season.

And that would mean he is able to join the MLS club on a free transfer next summer.
According to AS, Beckham hopes to lure Ramos across the Atlantic.
The pair were together at Real for two years between 2005 and 2007 following Ramos’ arrival from Sevilla until Becks signed for LA Galaxy after winning LaLiga in their second season.
Now he is hoping to convince another star to make the switch Stateside.

Beckham is co-owner of the MLS new boys, with 2020 their first season in the Eastern Conference.
Former Real Madrid man Gonzalo Higuain made a free transfer from Juventus in the summer while Blaise Matuidi also opted for the Florida-based franchise.
But landing the Spain national team skipper would be a major coup.
The report adds that Ramos is a big fan of Miami with plenty of friends there.

He would relish the close proximity to the Caribbean Sea and the Mexican Riviera Maya – among his favourite holiday destinations with wife Pilar Rubio – and the chance for his four children to study in the USA is also appealing.
But although he sees himself potentially ending his career at Inter Miami, Ramos has proven this season he is still among the top centre-backs in the world.
The 175-cap Spaniard racked up his 100th Real Madrid goal against Inter Milan this week and may decide to continue competing with Europe’s elite before switching for the MLS.
It is understood negotiations are underway between the defender and Real Madrid over a new contract.
However, Los Blancos’ over-30 policy means they are reluctant to offer the captain the additional two years he wants – although they may relent on their own code should no deal be agreed.

David Beckham needs Inter Miami miracle as Man Utd legend’s struggling side pray win is enough to reach MLS play-offs

GONZALO HIGUAIN has played in a World Cup final and the biggest club games in Europe.
But Sunday night, here in South Florida, the former Argentina, Juventus and Real Madrid hitman will need to produce a miracle by dragging David Beckham’s Inter Miami into the MLS play-offs and stop their debut season ending in failure.

Gonzalo Higuain and his Inter Miami team-mates may need divine intervention to reach the MLS play-offsCredit: USA TODAY Sports

Inconsistent Miami need to beat rock- bottom FC Cincinnati and pray other results go their way if they are to finish in the  Eastern Conference top ten and reach the postseason action.
USA legend and top TV analyst Alexi Lalas reckons disaster is brewing.
He said: “This isn’t just Inter Miami we are talking about.
“This is David Beckham’s Inter Miami and when you associate yourself with that global type of brand, it comes with expectations of being big, sexy and flashy.

Beckham’s Inter Miami will need a win and for other results to go their way in their battle for a play-off spotCredit: Instagram
“That hasn’t happened on the pitch and although the lack of fans hasn’t helped with the launch, if they don’t qualify, absolutely it will be a failure.
“Expectations have been high but it’s been disappointing.”
Manchester United and England legend Becks has been glued to the TV back home but must have spent plenty of time behind the sofa as Diego Alonso’s strugglers bagged just six wins from 22 matches.
The former Three Lions skipper expected big things at the start of the season, with his right-hand man, Jorge Mas, telling fans glory was on the way after six years of waiting for the club to actually start playing.

This campaign, however, has been a bit of a golden balls-up.

Argie striker Higuain who moved from Italian champions Juve in September and led the line in the 2014 World Cup final against Germany, has scored once in eight games.
French World Cup-winner Blaise Matuidi, 33, and fellow star player, 26-year-old Mexico international Rodolfo Pizarro, have also found the going tough.
Higuain, 32, is keeping the faith and said: “I have great experience in very important games and I am sure I can help the team. I’m used to dealing with the pressure.
“I have played at the highest level but there are others in the squad and on the coaching staff who have won titles in the past and I hope we can reach the play-offs.

“For our first year that would be great and no team has ever won the MLS Cup in their debut season, so that’s the dream.”
With the coronavirus pandemic throwing a spanner in the works after losing their first two matches in March, Miami restarted the season in July at the ‘MLS Is Back’ tournament — and crashed out after losing all three games.
Their first win finally arrived on August  22 — a 3-2 defeat of Florida rivals Orlando City — and although the signing of Matuidi, also from Juve, has helped Alonso’s men  bolster midfield, goals have been hard to come by.

Former Celtic and Sunderland winger Lewis Morgan has been the star for Miami, topping the scoring charts with five goals, as well as leading the way in assists.
Yet this long-awaited rookie campaign for Beckham’s franchise will be a failure unless the 24-year-old super Scot can weave some more magic against Cincinnati.
The new Inter Miami stadium in Fort Lauderdale will welcome around 2,000 fans, some of whom have begun to snipe on social media about the lack of effectiveness of the big-name stars, as well as targeting boss Alonso.
The Uruguayan, 45, was given a hospital pass when he was appointed at the start of the year.

Many of the players had already been signed after the club’s top brass failed to bring in the likes of Patrick Vieira and highly rated River Plate boss, Marcello Gallardo.
Former Valencia frontman Alonso had just 62 days to get his message across before the opener against Los Angeles FC but should get another crack next season to turn things around if the worst happens.
Five teams are battling for two available play-off spots on ‘Decision Day’, with Thierry Henry’s Montreal, DC United, Chicago, Atlanta and Becks’ boys all in the mix.

Watch ex-Man Utd star Nani, sporting blue hair, burst into tears after being sent off for Orlando in MLS clash

EX-MANCHESTER United star Nani was left in tears after being sent off in the MLS clash between Orlando City and Columbus Crew.
The 33-year-old was controversially dismissed after a tackle on midfielder Artur, with his team 1-0 up.

Initially he received a yellow, but then the referee consulted VAR and the pitchside monitor – and all hell broke loose.
He upgraded’s Nani’s offence to a red, and his Orlando team-mates reacted furiously.
The devastated winger, who was sporting blue hair, clasped his hands together and sunk to the ground in disbelief.
Nani then sloped off the pitch in tears, attempting to use his kit to mop up.

The former Portuguese international believed he had won the ball cleanly – and was shocked to receive even the initial yellow card.
Many fans on social media appeared in agreement that the punishment was harsh.
One commented: “In what world is that a red card?! That’s embarrassing.”
Another tweeted that they didn’t know what was worse ‘the decision or him crying’.

It looked like Nani’s red card would begin a collapse for the hosts, with Harrison Afful scoring for Columbus four minutes later to cancel out Christopher Mueller’s earlier goal.
But the 10 men of Orlando managed to squeeze home with Benji Michel hitting the winner six minutes from time.
The American side are just the latest stop in Nani’s post-Man United career.

Thierry Henry’s astonishing blast at players picked up as Montreal Impact boss left frustrated as he is mic’d-up

THIERRY HENRY’S touchline ranting has been picked up by mics during his Montreal Impact side’s 3-2 defeat to New England Revolution earlier this month.
The Frenchman pitched up at the MLS club late last year, having been sacked by AS Monaco.

Henry, 43, was believed to have lost the dressing room at the Ligue 1 side.
But if anyone thought that might make him take the ‘arm round the shoulder’ approach in future, this video would suggest otherwise.
The Arsenal legend, donning full club tracksuit, can be seen hollering instructions at his players during the loss.
Canadian international Shamit Shome was the subject of his ire on more than one occasion.

He screamed at the 23-year-old: “Shamit, can you pass it one touch? Then why don’t you do it!?!”
And later on he added towards the midfielder: “Shamit!
“Can you go behind him? Not in front of him, that’s not football. That’s not a football run, man! Behind him.”
Even former Tottenham star Victor Wanyama bore the brunt of his manager’s frustration.

Henry shouted: “Mason was there Victor.
“No don’t scream. Mason was there! Mason tell him you were there alone!”
Henry also took aim at Amar Sejdic: “Don’t blame anyone else, you turned the wrong way!
“If you turned you would have seen players here!”
Henry did, however, offer a few ‘well dones’ when he felt the players were implementing his instructions.
Ultimately though, goals from Kakuta Manneh, Teal Bunbury and Adam Buksa condemned him and his team to defeat.
Henry’s record as a manager so far leaves a lot to be desired, having won just seven of his 24 games in charge of the Impact.
And his time with Monaco was even worse, winning five, drawing four and losing 11 of his 20 matches at the helm.

Jack Wilshere reveals LaLiga transfer could be on cards and insists ‘I’m not too young for MLS’ after West Ham axe

JACK WILSHERE fancies a move to LaLiga and says he’s ‘not too young for the MLS’.
The former Arsenal midfielder is on the hunt for a new club after he ‘had to get out’ of West Ham.

Wilshere, 28, and the Hammers mutually agreed to cancel his London Stadium contract earlier this month.
It was believed to be worth around £100,000-a-week.
Injuries limited the ex-England international to just 19 appearances for West Ham.

However, he claimed he was fit and ready for selection for the last nine months of his time at the Irons – suggesting he was simply not picked by David Moyes.
Wilshere has no hard feelings towards his boyhood club now he has left and thinks the Spanish game would suit his style.
He told Sky Sports: “I’ve been speaking to my agent every couple of days.
“There’s been a few things that have come up and we’re still talking about it, but I’m not going to put a time on it because I want to make sure it’s right.

“LaLiga, Italy or Germany would be a nice change for me. Not many English players have done it.

“I always watch LaLiga, it was always something I thought about. I like the league, I think it’s more technical than the English game.
“I think it’s somewhere I could really show what I can do.”
Wilshere has also been linked with a move stateside to the MLS.
And he has been keeping himself fit with personal training sessions in a park.
He added: “I don’t think I’m too young for the MLS. It’s on Sky Sports, I think there’s been a big improvement in that league.
“If the right opportunity came up I’d be open to it.”
Wilshere had been at the London Stadium since 2018 when he moved on a free after his Arsenal contract expired.

He featured in just one game for the East London side this campaign – the 5-1 win against Hull in the Carabao Cup on September 22.
And despite the disappointing way his West Ham career turned out, most fans wished him well on his departure and Wilshere is glad he’s moved on.
He explained: “I was probably getting to that point, if I had stayed another year, where it would have been really tough mentally to come back from.
“I never had a fall out with him [Moyes]. I’ve got a lot of friends at West Ham and it was nothing personal against them.
“I still speak to a lot of the players, but I just had to get out. I couldn’t spend another year not playing, especially at my age.
“I just want to play games – I want to get back to playing 25-30 games a season, when you can really get your confidence back and a smile on your face.
“Just playing football, what I used to do when I was a little bit younger. I still feel like I can do it and I want to prove everyone wrong.”

Ex-Arsenal ace Jack Wilshere leaning towards MLS transfer after contract at West Ham was torn up

JACK WILSHERE is reportedly leaning towards a move to the US after he agreed to cancel his West Ham contract this month.

But he would now prefer a move to Major League Soccer, according to the Mirror.
The 28-year-old and West Ham mutually agreed to cancel his contract earlier this month.
It was believed to be worth around £100,000-a-week.

Wilshere had been at the London Stadium since 2018 when he moved on a free after his Arsenal contract expired.
Injuries limited the ex-England international to just 19 appearances for West Ham.
However, he claimed he was fit and ready for selection for his last nine months at the Hammers – suggesting he was simply not picked by David Moyes.
Wilshere featured in just one game for the East London side this campaign – the 5-1 win against Hull in the Carabao Cup on September 22.

And despite the disappointing way his West Ham career turned out, most fans wished him well on his departure.

The boyhood Hammers fan was recently spotted training in a park as his search for a new club goes on.
And speaking after he left West Ham, he said: “I’m open to anything really. I think I want to try something different, I’m leaning towards that.
“Maybe LaLiga, Italy, something a little bit different and not many English players have done.
“I was in this position when I left Arsenal. What I learnt from that is take your time and make sure it’s right for you.
“I’m not saying I have regrets going to West Ham because in my head things would have turned out differently, but that’s football – but this time I’m going take my time and find something that suits me.

“I just want to be happy and be playing football again. Honestly, I can’t tell you the last time, probably when I signed for West Ham, the first three games before I picked up an injury.
“That was probably the last time I was happy playing football.
“I just want to be happy, going back on the pitch, get a smile on my face, play 20-30 games a season where I’m an important player for a team.
“Obviously it didn’t turn out the way I wanted it to and I was frustrated about that but that’s football.”
Earlier this week, Wilshere leaped to the defence of former team-mate Mesut Ozil saying he’s ‘Arsenal’s best player’.

Watch Javier Hernandez’s horror miss from just yards out as LA Galaxy fans turn on ex-Man Utd star

EX-MANCHESTER UNITED striker Javier Hernandez missed a sitter for LA Galaxy and their fans were NOT happy.
The Mexican blazed over from six yards after Boca Juniors loanee Cristian Pavon had put it on a plate for him during Galaxy’s MLS clash with Vancouver Whitecaps.

The teams were drawing 0-0 in the 84th minute when the chance presented itself.
And it did not take long for fans of the MLS club to get on the 32-year-old’s back.
Winger Pavon did well to create space on the right before whipping a perfect ball across the six yard box.

It found Hernandez, 32, at the far post and although he managed to connect with his left foot, the ball ballooned very high and very wide much to the disgust of Galaxy fans.

Replying to the footage on Twitter, Mario uploaded a picture of a clown and wrote: “Remember a year ago when everyone was hyping him up.
“This guy has not done anything at all.”
Another added: “Ffs man, Chicharito is so s***. You simply CAN’T miss those chances.”
Arsenal fan JKA tried to stand up for the ex-West Ham flop and wrote: “That is not an easy chance to finish, balls bobbling, he’s running at pace, even the best miss.”

    3

But Mr M was having none of it and replied: “A rookie from the reserves came off the bench in the 85th minute and scored from this exact pass to win the game.”
Kai Koreniuk, 22, came on in the 87th minute before scoring the winner in the 90th.
The game finished 1-0 to Galaxy but it was not enough to lift them off bottom place in the Western Conference.
Mexican international Hernandez played for Man Utd for five years between 2010 and 2015 but he was loaned to Real Madrid for the final season – 2014-15.

He had a successful spell at Bayer Leverkusen from 2015-17 before a move to West Ham.
But he failed to recapture his Bundesliga form in East London and is not remembered fondly by Hammers fans.
The Irons managed to offload him to Sevilla last summer but after just one goal in nine LaLiga outings, Chicharito made the switch to LA on 21 January this year.
He has failed to score in eight MLS appearances since the move.

A rookie from the reserves came from the bench on the 85th minute and scored from this exact pass to win the game.

Watch MLS star Hurtado score outrageous ‘Van Basten-esque’ goal to win game for Sporting KC vs Nashville

ERIK HURTADO scored a stunning “Van Basten-esque” goal to help his side Sporting Kansas City defeat Nashville in the MLS.
Hurtado, 29, hit a sublime volley as he came off the bench to lead his side to victory.

    3

Hurtado sent fans in a frenzy with his stunning strike against NashvilleCredit: Represented by ZUMA Press, Inc.

After the game he said: “I’ve done it a handful of times, in college, back in high school, middle school, but never on a big stage like that so it’s pretty cool.”
The strike was so good it had fans comparing it to Dutch legend Marco van Basten’s volley in the final of Euro 1988.
Sporting’s manager Peter Vermes heaped praise on Hurtado and called the volley “world-class.”
His team-mate Johnny Russell also chipped in and said: “I don’t think people understand how hard that technique is and he executed it perfectly.

“I said that to him at the time, I couldn’t believe, to be honest, what I’d seen and I could see that tonight would probably take a little bit of something special and he more than produced that.”

The goal sent Twitter into a frenzy and had fans debating if the goal was as good as Van Basten’s.
One fan said: “F***ing hell. Strong Van Basten vibes from Erik Hurtado last night.
“What a hit, son. Couldn’t get any sweeter if you dipped it in a pint of Nutella.”

    Other fans seemed to agree.
Another said that the goal was even better than Van Basten’s.
But not all fans agreed and one said that there was no comparision between the strikes.

Vermes said shades of Marco Van Basten 1988 – incredible goal from Erik Hurtado! @Amadou_iT11 with the dime piece as well, they both said they talked about this exact type of movement and it pays off for Sporting https://t.co/NclpEf9RQR
    — Carter Augustine (@CarterAugust1ne) October 12, 2020

    No hay debate🤷🏻‍♂️, Van Basten!
    — Alan Miyadi Hurtado (@alanmiyadi) October 7, 2020

Hurtado was traded to Sporting Kansas City on December 14, 2018, in exchange for a second-round pick in the 2020 MLS SuperDraft and a first-round pick in the 2021 MLS SuperDraft.
Despite his wonder-strike, he is not a regular starter for his club and has only featured in three games this year.
But he has scored some important goals for Sporting and he came off the bench to score the game-sealing goal with another sweet volley in a 3-1 victory at Vancouver Whitecaps FC back in February. More
