      Cristiano Ronaldo facing $1BILLION lawsuit in the USA over Binance cryptocurrency adverts

      CRISTIANO RONALDO is facing a lawsuit worth 1 BILLION DOLLARS after promoting Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange.A filing in a US district court in Florida has alleged that the ex-Manchester United and Real Madrid man, 38, “promoted, assisted in, and/or actively participated in the offer and sale of unregistered securities in co-ordination with Binance”.

      According to The Times, it has been claimed by the plaintiffs of the case that his endorsement of the company led to them making losses on their investments.
      Ronaldo’s representatives have been approached for comment.
      The Al-Nassr forward signed a multi-year deal with Binance last year to promote non-fungible tokens – also known as NFTs.
      These are virtual assets, used to prove ownership of an online picture or video, which can be purchased and sold.

      Ronaldo and Binance collaborated to create an NFT collection in November 2022.
      The Portuguese icon claimed this would reward his loyal followers “for all the years of support”.
      Following the release of the NFTs, Ronaldo said: “It was important to me that we created something memorable and unique for my fans as they are such a big part of my success.
      “With Binance, I was able to make something that not only captures the passion of the game but rewards fans for all the years of support.”

      Earlier this month, Binance’s co-founded and chief executive, Changpeng Zhao, pled guilty to charges of money laundering.
      He will personally pay a 50 million dollar fine as part of a 4 BILLION dollar settlement between Binance and the justice department.
      Ronaldo has been living in Saudi Arabia since he joined Al-Nassr midway through the 2021/22 season when his Man Utd contract was terminated.

      Prem star forced to return home after losing £1m in ‘crypto scam’ as he’ll miss out on four games

      A PREMIER league star has fled to his homeland after losing £1million in an alleged crypto scam.Nottingham Forest’s Gustavo Scarpa, 29, has missed four games after flying back to Brazil to deal with rogue cryptocurrency investors.

      The attacking ace arrived in the UK on a free transfer from Palmeiras in November.
      But he’s been given special permission to return home to battle three companies that promised high returns on investments.
      The firms failed to pay up when Scarpa asked for his money back, according to Brazil’s ESPN.
      Head coach Steve Cooper admitted the player had been badly affected by the scam.

      He said: “I can tell you that he has had some personal issues to sort out and we are giving him our support, which has been inclusive of allowing him to travel back [to Brazil].” 
      Scarpa was last on the pitch during the 2-0 defeat against Fulham last month.
      He was an unused substitute against Manchester City and West Ham United.
      And he wasn’t part of the squad at all against Everton and Tottenham Hotspur.

      Scarpa made the investment in May last year, according to reports.
      He was promised returns of 3.5 to five per cent – but he has since been unable to claim his money back.
      The footballer has taken three companies to the 10th Civil Court of São Paulo.
      Last year Scarpa became Nottingham Forest’s 24th signing since they earned a promotion to the Premier League.
      In December he was spotted skate-boarding around the city centre as he got to know his new home.
      Scarpa had one cap for Brazil and was looking forward to his next challenge.
      He said at the time: “I’m very happy to be here, it’s a dream for me.
      “It’s a new challenge and I can’t wait for it to begin. It’s always been an ambition since I was a little kid to play in Europe, and my dream is to play in the Premier League.

      And their new project – in partnership with Adidas – went live on Friday.
      The idea sees fans purchase digital assets giving access to a raft of perks including voting rights on club decisions, merchandise, exclusive experiences and digital content. 
      So far more than 9,000 of the “non-fungible tokens” have been bought using a cryptocurrency called Ether – at a cost of roughly £355 a pop.

      MANCHESTER UNITED are reportedly set to unveil a new £20million-a-year training kit sponsorship deal.The Athletic claims blockchain platform Tezos will adorn United’s training gear after their old contract with Aon finished last season, leaving their kit blank so far this term.

      It’s reckoned all the promotional material has been shot.
      And United will announce their multi-year partnership with the New York-based crypto company shortly.
      Tezos describes itself on its website as ‘an open-source platform that addresses key barriers facing blockchain adoption for assets and applications backed by a global community of validators, researchers, and builders’.
      It adds: “By design, Tezos embraces long-term upgradability, open participation, collaboration, and smart contract safety.”
      United’s agreement with Tezos comes after a £200m deal with The Hut Group collapsed last year.
      Pressure from protestors against all the club’s commercial partners forced the Manchester-based company to withdraw from an agreement.

      Arsenal latest club to link up with cryptocurrency in $AFC Fan Token deal – with fans now able to make club decisions

      ARSENAL are joining Europe’s football giants by getting involved in cryptocurrency with the creation of $AFC Fan Tokens.The club have become the second Premier League outfit to team up with blockchain provider Chiliz to offer crypto tokens to supporters

      The Gunners say $AFC Fan Tokens will give supporters the chance to influence club decisions during the season
      And the Emirates side are set to launch their tokens via an app called Socios.com.
      It is a move that sees the Gunners follow in the footsteps of league champs Manchester City who in March revealed plans to launch fan tokens in collaboration with Chiliz. 
      Gunners officials suggest $AFC Fan Tokens, described as digital assets, will give their owners the chance to influence the club every season via interactive surveys and polls.
      It is thought they can also join competitions and discussion forums. 
      Peter Silverstone, Arsenal’s commercial director said: ‘We are excited to launch this partnership with Socios that will bring our huge global fan base even closer to the club. 
      “Socios are leading the way in blockchain in the sports industry, as we have seen from their relationships with other leading European clubs. 
      “When we launch the $AFC Fan Tokens together we will give our hundreds of millions of fans worldwide more opportunities to interact with the club and be a part of our global family.”
      Chilliz is thought to be one of the most influential blockchain suppliers for the sports and entertainment sector. 
      Barcelona and Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain are among the clubs working with the firm. 
      Portugal and Copa America champions Argentina are among the national teams to have agreed to partnerships.

      And LaLiga outfit Valencia are set to become the first football side in the world to plug their $VCF Fan Tokens on their football shirts.
      The Gunners’ move into cryptocurrency for fans comes a week after they announced plans for a documentary with Amazon.
      The All or Nothing series will see Arsenal allow TV cameras behind the scenes at the Emirates during the 2021-22 season.
