      He joined the Addicks in 2000, and sensationally introduced himself by scoring for the club with his FIRST TOUCH in professional football in a Papa Johns Trophy clash against Crawley.
      Since then, he has continued to provide a threat in attack – finding the net six times in his first 16 games for the South London side.
      It’s that kind of form that encouraged Chelsea to pounce on the youngster – paying around £2million to secure his services, beating Premier League rivals Brentford to the punch, before loaning him back to the League One team.
      They’ve had their eye on him
      Burstow was spotted early doors by Chelsea’s scouts when he played for Maidstone at 16.
      After starring in a game, ironically against Charlton, he was invited to Cobham to train.

      Although they passed on the opportunity to sign him, Burstow stayed on the club’s radar.
      In 2020, the Plumstead-born poacher joined local club Charlton on a two-year scholarship deal.
      He would soon get Charlton development lead coach Anthony Hayes purring about his ability.
      Ambitious and full of potential
      Back in December, Hayes spoke of Burstow’s ambition and his game.
      “He’s someone who we consider a high-potential player,” Hayes told the South London Press.
      “I wouldn’t want to put any pressure on him because I know he sets his own targets.
      “I know there is a lot of goal-setting in terms of creating and scoring goals, as well as making first-team appearances.
      “What I do think he is, is a centre-forward who can do everything. He can run away from the ball and he can drop in and link play.”
      While, News Shopper journalist Henry Tomlinson compared Burstow to ex-West Ham and Tottenham hotshot Jermain Defoe.
      “He’s got that rare talent of just wanting to prove himself, he doesn’t stop running, he doesn’t have a chip on his shoulder, he’s just wanting to do the best he can each time he goes out,” Tomlinson told the Chelsea Chronicle.

      “I’ve seen him live a couple of times now and he sort of reminds me a little bit of a young Defoe.
      “His movement between the lines, he’s got a bit of that poacher finishing ability and he’s got a bit more height. His goal against Fleetwood was with his head.
      “So, maybe, he could have potential more skill set or be a bit more rounded than Defoe was, which would be a fantastic career if he was able to emulate Defoe because obviously, he’s one of the best Premier League goal scorers of all time.”
      Goals galore
      Like Defoe, Burstow has the same ruthlessness in front of goal which is translated well to the Charlton first team.
      Since ex-manager Nigel Adkins handed him his debut back in August – in the 6-1 demolition of Crawley – Mason is yet to look back.
      Back in November, he found the net in the FA Cup in a 4-0 win over Havant & Waterlooville.
      Last month, he scored a consolation in a 2-1 defeat to Crewe Alexandra in the league followed.
      Then he followed that up with a strike in a 2-0 win against Fleetwood.

      Sensibly, Chelsea have decided to let Burstow play out the remainder of this season with the Addicks as he continues his development.
      Then comes the hard work where he will transition into Neil Bath’s Blues academy.

      It is a move that completes a remarkable rise for the teenager, who only made his debut for the Rams in 2021 aged 16 in a FA Cup tie against Chorley.
      Since then, he has appeared in Wayne Rooney’s first team and earned rave reviews.
      It was with Rooney’s blessing that Williams signed a deal with the West London giants, who couldn’t stand in the way of the youngster’s Premier League dream.
      But his story didn’t begin Derby… it started initially in the Black Country.
      Youth career
      Explosive defender Williams was on the books at Wolves and developed at their academy, before moving to Derby in 2020.
      In his first year at Moor Farm the teenager turned heads for his pace and versatility.

      He linked up with the U18 side, starring in wins over Sunderland, Middlesbrough, and Blackburn.
      Within months, he was promoted to the U23’s where he continued to develop and became a regular.

      Cup debut
      When Derby County’s squad was decimated by a coronavirus outbreak last season, fourteen players from the club’s academy were forced to make their debut against Chorley in the FA Cup third round.

      He made his second appearance in the Carabao Cup tie against Salford City that Derby won 5-3 on penalties after a thrilling 3-3 draw.
      Fans were certainly impressed by his performance, commenting on social media how he had grown into the game and wasn’t scared of bombing forward.
      Williams went on to appear a further seven times in the first team.
      ‘My decision’
      At a press conference before the Rams faced off against Nottingham Forest, Derby boss Rooney addressed the speculation about the future of Williams.
      The England legend admitted the club were in talks with a Premier League giant who wanted to buy him.
      Rooney revealed he spoke with Williams and made the decision for the club to allow his talent to pursue a dream opportunity.
      “We have agreed a fee with a Premier League club, still getting finalised as we speak, for Dylan Williams,” Rooney said.
      “It is one where I felt I couldn’t deny him the opportunity, so that is my decision, not an administrator’s decision.
      “It was my decision after speaking to the player, I felt I couldn’t deny a young lad an opportunity of going to play in the Premier League.
      “I actually don’t know what the fee is, that has been agreed between the other club and the administrators.
      “I took control of it and said I wanted to speak to the player and see what his feelings are, and it is a massive opportunity for the player, which I understand.
      “Hence the fact I was happy for him to leave the club for a new venture somewhere else.”
      Williams is now expected to link up with Chelsea’s academy teams, where he will familiarise himself with the superb Cobham facilities.

      Aged just 16 years and 15 days, Bayern boss Julian Nagelsmann put a caring arm around the attacking midfielder on the touchline before introducing the talent into the fray.
      His appearance shattered a record originally set by Musiala, Wanner’s favourite player, as the club’s youngest ever Bundesliga star.
      As Nagelsmann has put it. This is one “incredible talent”.
      Early riser
      Wanner was born in 2005 to an Austrian mother and a dad who played professional football in the Austria in the Allgau region in southern Germany.
      He joined Bayern at the age of 12, and soon came to the attention in the U14’s for coach Alexander Moj.
      Moj told The Athletic: “I think the under-14 indoor season, when we played against top teams and won awards, was the moment when he realised not only was he better than other players but he was also better than he thought he was.”
      Consistently, Wanner played a year up at Bayern – but crucially never looked out of place.

      Currently, he’s starring in the U19’s – where he has shown his natural ability with the ball at his feet.
      In a Under-19 German Cup game against Hertha Berlin, a video went viral of Wanner’s impressive dribbling skills.
      Last year, Nagelsmann introduced the teenager into the first team set-up, where he trained with Bayern’s international superstars.

      COME IN NO10
      There is a feeling in Germany that Wanner is exactly what the country needs in terms of a genuine playmaker.
      His skillset isn’t the typical midfield general we’ve seen through the years, think Matthaus, Effenberg, Schweinsteiger and most recently Joshua Kimmich.
      Wanner, who stands at a slight 5ft 7in, lends more to a Thomas Hassler-type, a creative spark who plays the game forwards, is able to thread defence-splitting passes and thrives on one-on-one situations.
      Although a career in football seems to be already mapped out for him, Wanner is taking nothing for granted.
      He hasn’t neglected his studies and attends Gymnasium – a secondary school for the most academic German kids.
      There he is achieving good grades. And when the bell goes at 4:30pm, half-an-hour later he’s at training.
      Wanner isn’t short of confidence either. Bayern technical director Marco Neppe was so impressed by his early sessions with the first team he called him “rotzfrech”, which translates as cocky and bold.
      Bayern know full well they’ve got a player on their hands, and are doing everything they can to ensure he’s enjoying his football at the club.

      Next summer, his youth contract expires. Although it’s perhaps inconceivable Wanner would move, he could go elsewhere for more regular game-time.
      However, it’s Bayern that seemingly have the edge, having already integrated Wanner with the seniors.
      And with the skills he possesses, there’s every chance he will be leading Bayern’s attacking threats in years to come. More

      Of course, Red Devils fans will already know about his prowess from last season.
      The flying youngster scored his first senior goal for United with a bullet header against Wolves on the final day of the campaign.
      The youth star has impressed for the Under-23’s again this season, but has found game-time limited.
      However, some fans are calling for him to start ahead of England international Marcus Rashford.

      Football is something that is very much in his blood.
      His dad Joseph Elanga was a professional footballer, who earned 17 caps for Cameroon and was called up to the 1998 World Cup squad.
      Anthony was previously handed the prestigious Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year award, which has been won by first-teamers Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood in the past.
      While back in March, Elanga was rewarded for his rapid progress with a new long-term deal at Old Trafford.

      KEEPING IT IN THE FAMILY
      Anthony’s father Joseph could say he taught him everything he knew.
      But the elder Elanga, now 42, wasn’t a forward like his son. He was a defender, who made a career for himself in Europe – in countries including Greece, Sweden and Denmark, before retiring in 2012.
      His best years were with Malmo from 2000-2005, who he won the Swedish championship with in 2004. He would join the club for one season again in 2010 and win a second league title.
      Joseph was a member of the Cameroon 1998 World Cup squad, but didn’t play a game.
      During his career, however, he did manage to gain 17 caps for his country.

      A THREAT UPFRONT
      United’s youth sides are blessed with promising forwards, with the likes of Shola Shoretire, Charlie McNeill and Dillon Hoogewerf all showing they have a bright future in the game.
      Like them, Elanga has the ability to play out wide or though the middle as a No9.
      Predominantly right-footed, he uses his pace and skill to beat his man, often cutting in before unleashing a shot on goal.
      His solo runs are reminiscent of a young Ryan Giggs, who could take three or four players out of a game in one swashbuckling gallop.
      Elanga has been with the Red Devils since the U12s, joining the academy from Sunday League side Hattersley FC.

      HOPEFUL FOR THE FUTURE
      Elanga – who scored two goals in five matches for Sweden’s U17s – had excited Solskjaer in training before his first-team debut.
      “He’s got an X factor, some attributes, it’s not like a gift, but he’s got the acceleration, pace, speed, that’s a given for wingers and he’s got qualities I like,” the Norwegian explained.
      “He’s a goalscoring winger, he’s confident, he likes to beat men, right foot, left foot, he’s got a great attitude.”

      Elanga is equally as positive for his future, and knows what he has to do to impress his boss.
      Back in November he told PA, “You look at the likes of Mason and Rashy, there is a pathway there.
      “It just shows you that if you’re willing to put the work into it and continue to work hard day in, day out in training there’s a pathway for you there.”
      HEROES IN THE GAME
      In an interview with The Athletic last year, Elanga revealed who he models his game on.
      “Thierry Henry was my idol and I tried to match my game with his,” he said.
      “He was quick. He could play anywhere across the front three – striker, left wing, right wing – and that’s how I want to replicate my game.”

      Manchester United legend Gary Neville caught a glimpse of Elanga in full flight, when he co-commentated on United Under-21s 6-0 win over Salford City in the EFL Trophy last year.
      He said the youngster was a “nightmare to play against” and called his goal “Thierry Henry-esque.”
      If he’s half the player Henry was, United have got themselves a real talent.

      IT was a performance that belied his tender years.Lewis Hall, just 17, rightly earned the plaudits from fans, pundits and his manager for an impressive performance against Chesterfield in the FA Cup third round.

      Playing out of position, the talented teenager was man-of-the-match in a swashbuckling display on the left side of defence.
      He made history by becoming the club’s youngest player to start an FA Cup game at the age of just 17 years and 122 days against Chesterfield
      He capped off a wonderful performance with an assist for Romelu Lukaku in the 5-1 win, and had boss Thomas Tuchel purring about him, although the German manager did offer some perspective.
      Tuchel said: “There’s no need to talk it down (Hall’s performance vs Chesterfield) but no need to get overwhelmed, because we played against a fifth division team.
      “The young boys have to step up and show what they’re capable of, and they did it again.”
      Blue is all he’s known
      Like many that come through the academy at Cobham, Slough-born Hall has been with the club since playing with the U8’s.

      Over time, he has steadily risen through the ranks to shine for the U18’s, as well as the U23 side.
      Hall, who primarily operates at left-back or in central midfield at youth level, has particularly impressed during this campaign.
      At U18 level, he’s his team’s definitive playmaker – registering three goals and four assists in just six games.
      That prompted his coaches to promote him to U23 football, and he has shown he hasn’t been overawed playing at a higher age group scoring twice in seven games for the Premier League 2 side.
      The experience gave Hall the perfect platform to succeed in the first team.
      He’s modest
      What was most impressive about Hall’s performance was his level of maturity on and off the pitch.
      During the game he picked the right pass and always did the right thing.
      Afterwards, he showed a modest approach and total honesty when it came to describing how he felt about making his bow for the club he clearly loves.
      “It’s a dream come true,” he told Chelsea TV.

      “It’s something I’ve worked towards since a kid. To finally get the opportunity today… I’ve got to thank everyone. My family, the manager, the fans for making me feel so welcome.”
      Incredibly, Hall only signed scholarship terms with the club last summer, and alongside his FA Cup appearance has also appeared in the FA Youth Cup, UEFA Youth League and Papa John’s Trophy.
      It’s a progression, starting with seeing his name on the team sheet for the first eleven, that has surprised Hall as he continues his development.
      “When I saw my name it was just instant shock,” Hall revealed at full-time.
      “Nerve-wracking for a couple of hours. I just had to sit there for a bit and think ‘wow, this is the day’.
      “As soon as I stepped on to the pitch the fans were behind me and wanted me to do well. It gave me the motivation and confidence to do what I can do.

      “I started off [the season] in the U18s and just worked my way up. I’ve finally achieved what my aim is at Chelsea. I’m lost for words really.
      “I’ve achieved my aims already and gone beyond what I wanted to achieve [this season]. When I get home I’m going to have to take a couple of days to take it all in and think about what’s next.”
      Given he has taken to first team football like a duck to water, and proved to his coach that he can be trusted, you can bet we haven’t seen the last of Hall this season. More

      Of course, Red Devils fans will already know about his prowess from last season.
      The flying youngster scored his first senior goal for United with a bullet header against Wolves on the final day of the campaign.
      The youth star has impressed for the Under-23’s again this season, but has found game-time limited.
      However, some fans are calling for him to start ahead of England international Marcus Rashford.

      Football is something that is very much in his blood.
      His dad Joseph Elanga was a professional footballer, who earned 17 caps for Cameroon and was called up to the 1998 World Cup squad.
      Anthony was previously handed the prestigious Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year award, which has been won by first-teamers Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood in the past.
      While back in March, Elanga was rewarded for his rapid progress with a new long-term deal at Old Trafford.

      KEEPING IT IN THE FAMILY
      Anthony’s father Joseph could say he taught him everything he knew.
      But the elder Elanga, now 42, wasn’t a forward like his son. He was a defender, who made a career for himself in Europe – in countries including Greece, Sweden and Denmark, before retiring in 2012.
      His best years were with Malmo from 2000-2005, who he won the Swedish championship with in 2004. He would join the club for one season again in 2010 and win a second league title.
      Joseph was a member of the Cameroon 1998 World Cup squad, but didn’t play a game.
      During his career, however, he did manage to gain 17 caps for his country.

      A THREAT UPFRONT
      United’s youth sides are blessed with promising forwards, with the likes of Shola Shoretire, Charlie McNeill and Dillon Hoogewerf all showing they have a bright future in the game.
      Like them, Elanga has the ability to play out wide or though the middle as a No9.
      Predominantly right-footed, he uses his pace and skill to beat his man, often cutting in before unleashing a shot on goal.
      His solo runs are reminiscent of a young Ryan Giggs, who could take three or four players out of a game in one swashbuckling gallop.
      Elanga has been with the Red Devils since the U12s, joining the academy from Sunday League side Hattersley FC.

      HOPEFUL FOR THE FUTURE
      Elanga – who scored two goals in five matches for Sweden’s U17s – had excited Solskjaer in training before his first-team debut.
      “He’s got an X factor, some attributes, it’s not like a gift, but he’s got the acceleration, pace, speed, that’s a given for wingers and he’s got qualities I like,” the Norwegian explained.
      “He’s a goalscoring winger, he’s confident, he likes to beat men, right foot, left foot, he’s got a great attitude.”

      Elanga is equally as positive for his future, and knows what he has to do to impress his boss.
      Back in November he told PA, “You look at the likes of Mason and Rashy, there is a pathway there.
      “It just shows you that if you’re willing to put the work into it and continue to work hard day in, day out in training there’s a pathway for you there.”
      HEROES IN THE GAME
      In an interview with The Athletic last year, Elanga revealed who he models his game on.
      “Thierry Henry was my idol and I tried to match my game with his,” he said.
      “He was quick. He could play anywhere across the front three – striker, left wing, right wing – and that’s how I want to replicate my game.”

      Manchester United legend Gary Neville caught a glimpse of Elanga in full flight, when he co-commentated on United Under-21s 6-0 win over Salford City in the EFL Trophy last year.
      He said the youngster was a “nightmare to play against” and called his goal “Thierry Henry-esque.”

      HARVEY VALE has crept into Thomas Tuchel’s thoughts during the club’s Carabao Cup run.The 18-year-old Chelsea wonderkid made his second appearance for the Blues in the 2-0 win against Spurs, just weeks after making his debut in the quarter-final against Brentford.

      But, if he had it own way, instead of having ‘Vale’ on the back of his shirt he would have preferred ‘Ronaldo’.
      The teenager begged his mum to change his name to copy the Man Utd legend when he was a kid.
      Vale has made his own name recognisable, though, with the Blues academy team – starring for the U18’s and U23’s.
      Ronaldo obsession
      Like many boys his age, attacking midfielder Harvey looked up to Cristiano Ronaldo.
      He so obsessed by the Portuguese superstar, he asked his mum if he could change his name to ex-Real Madrid forward.
      “In football, [my idol] was definitely Cristiano Ronaldo,” he told the Chelsea website.

      His flawless technique has already drawn plaudits from top performance coach Tom Joyce, who worked with Vale in 2021.
      “He’s a natural baller and makes it look easy,” Joyce revealed.
      “He’s dedicated and a really hard worker.
      “When I teach him something new, or get him to perform a drill, he won’t stop until he’s got it right. He’s determined, and I like that in an athlete. He’s got great passing accuracy and an unbelievable shot, too.
      “He’s a hard worker, so he just needs to stay consistent, put in the work behind the scenes and gain every advantage he can.
      “I believe Harvey will soon follow Tino in making regular Premier League appearances, as he (Livramento) has shown he is capable of making the transition from the U23s. It has been exceptional.”

      Contract expiring
      Vale has 18-months left on his contract, with Chelsea hopeful his future can be resolved.
      According to reports, the reason why a deal has stalled is because of the on-going Covid crisis rocking the football world.
      Talks have been going on for some time, though, with neither party in a rush to finalise proceedings and a resolution on the cards.
      However, the West London side will be wary after promising youngsters Marc Guehi and Tino Livramento departed from the Bridge.
      They certainly won’t want to lose Vale, another gem from their famed academy set-up.

      WITH every crisis comes opportunity, and for Archie Gray it meant he got first team experience at Elland Road in the Premier League.Last weekend, the 15-year-old was named on the bench for the first time against Arsenal.

      With the greatest respect, his chance came because of an injury crisis that has crippled Leeds United and seen the Whites crumble to a 7-0 thrashing against Manchester City and 4-1 beating by the Gunners.
      But, what has been evidenced by Marcelo Bielsa and youth academy coaches at Thorp Arch, is that Gray has the potential to follow in the footsteps of his ancestors and become a regular.
      The teen midfielder carries the club’s DNA. His dad is former Leeds forward Andy Gray, he is the grandson of ex-defender Frank and great-nephew of legend Eddie.
      And he’s got the backing of Leeds director Victor Orta.
      EXCELLING AT YOUTH LEVEL
      Archie is currently earning rave reviews from his mentors at youth level..
      At his tender age, he is already playing U23 football having broken into Mark Jackson’s side.
      And he has experienced the physical side of EFL’s League One and Two by playing in the Papa John’s Trophy for the U21’s.
      A standout assist in a game against Tranmere Rovers for an Amari Miller goal wowed fans when it surfaced on social media.
      In early December, Archie also represented his country – playing for England’s U16’s in the Val-de-Marne tournament in France.
      For now, he has snubbed Scotland unlike Eddie, Frank and Andy.

      Archie’s recent rise has Victor Orta excited.
      In an interview with Spanish YouTube channel La Media Inglesa, the Leeds director heaped praise on the youngster when asked who the future of the club could be.
      Orta revealed: “I want to be the first person on La Media Inglesa since in five years’ time you’ll be talking about this guy non-stop and I want to be the first and because I already had the answer prepared yesterday, I want to say the name of Archie Gray, our youth team player.
      “He is 16, [great nephew] of Eddie Gray, son of Andy Gray and I want to say the name of Archie Gray on La Media Inglesa.
      “You can find a nice moment of what he did the other day in the Papa John’s Trophy on Wyscout, he gave a lovely pass to Amari Miller in our 4-1 defeat to Tranmere Rovers.
      “Hopefully nobody takes him away from us for God’s sake. Nobody is going to do that, he has [Leeds] in his blood. So that’s why I want to say the name of Archie Gray on here because every time he takes a step forward you’ll see him.”
      JUST LIKE AGUERO
      Archie’s performance against Tranmere back in September gave Orta goosebumps.
      It also reminded him of a legend just retired, not because of similarities with how they play, but more with how Archie has burst onto the scene.
      “He’s one of those players you see every, I don’t know. I remember Kun Agüero and saying “what is this?” It’s something that happens once in a long time, so I wanted to mention Archie Gray,” Orta purred.
