Watch Sadio Mane get away with ‘embarrassing’ dive in Afcon final and dodge second yellow card before scoring winner

SADIO MANE was blasted for getting away with an ‘embarrassing’ dive in the Africa Cup of Nations final – which could have seen him sent off. The Liverpool forward was already on a yellow when he threw himself to the floor in the first-half of extra time.
Sadio Mane was blasted for getting away with an ‘embarrassing’ dive in the Africa Cup of Nations final

Mane skipped past Egypt centre-back Mohamed Abdelmonem but without contact hit the deck.
And fans online slammed the forward for not receiving a second booking for simulation.
One said: “Another embarrassing dive from Mane..”
Another said: “Mane should have been sent off there, terrible dive!”
One added: “Why dive when you’re on a yellow card? Lucky not to get sent off Mane.”
Another added: “Mane should be sent off. What a disgrace. A player of his ability shouldn’t be diving in a final like this.”

It was a rollercoaster match for Mane, having MISSED from the spot in normal time thanks to the help of Liverpool team-mate Mo Salah.
Salah whispered instructions to man-of-the-match Gabaski while Mane prepared to take — and the Egyptian keeper saved his powerful effort down the middle.
But it was Mane who had the last laugh when he blasted his second spot-kick to Gabaski’s right to seal the deal at the death, after Chelsea keeper Edouard Mendy saved Mohanad Lasheen’s kick to set the stage.
Salah was due to go next, and was in tears as his Anfield pal landed the decisive blow.

Incredible moment Afcon final ref offers Mo Salah his cards and whistle after Liverpool star moans about decision

MO SALAH was offered the referee’s cards and whistle after constant moaning in the Africa Cup of Nations final. Salah took on Liverpool team-mate Sadio Mane for the trophy in what was fiercely competitive match.

The Egyptian star several times complained to official Victor Gomes, who eventually had enough.
Just before the end of the first half, Gomes sarcastically offered Salah the chance to ref the game himself.
The game remained deadlocked and went all the way to penalties, with Senegal winning 4-2.
Mane was the shoutout hero after he blasted the winning spot-kick to Gabaski’s right to seal the deal at the death.
Chelsea keeper Edouard Mendy had beforehand saved Mohanad Lasheen’s kick to set the stage for the Liverpool winger.
Salah was due to go next, and was in tears as his Anfield pal landed the decisive blow.

For a third game in a row, Egypt’s knockout game went to penalties, and it looked like Gabaski could be the hero again when he denied Mane from the spot after just seven minutes.
Egypt centre-back Mohamed Abdelmonem’s lunge on Saliou Ciss saw a penalty awarded in a frantic start – much to the dismay of suspended boss Carlos Quieroz who watched from the stands.
Mane was made to wait for three minutes before taking the penalty as Egypt delayed by protesting against the decision.
And during that period Salah spoke to Gabaski, seemingly giving him some words of advice as he knows Mane inside out.
At one stage Mane came over to the Egyptian pair and said something himself as he appeared to point to the direction he was going to go.
Salah and Gabaski would win out as the keeper brilliantly pushed away the venomous penalty – which was thumped down the middle.

    90. One additional minute….
    Cameroon 0 Egypt 0
    118. What a chance!
Sobhi has the ball on the byline, drops his shoulder, the defender slips and gives him all the time in the world to cross.
He drills it across the six yard box, any touch would surely take it in.
Fortunately for Cameroon it fizzes through and goes out for a throw in.
    Cameroon 0 Egypt 0
    117. Zizo comes on for Sherif.
Considering he came on a substitute himself at the start of extra time, that must hurt.
I am guessing we will see Zizo take a penalty if we go that far.

Burkina Faso 1 Senegal 3: Watch Sadio Mane’s deadly finish as Liverpool star and Edouard Mendy book Afcon final spot

SADIO MANE and Edouard Mendy’s Africa Cup of Nations adventure is going all the way after the Liverpool hero sealed Senegal’s place in Sunday’s final. Mane hit Burkina Faso on the break to wrap up a 3-1 win five minutes from time and become his country’s all-time joint top goalscorer.
Senegal booked their spot in the Afcon final by beating Burkina Faso 3-1Credit: Reuters
Sadio Mane wrapped up the win with his record-equalling 29th international goalCredit: Reuters

Abdou Diallo had scored just once for Senegal before – and is yet to find the net in 72 games for Paris Saint-Germain – when he stabbed in the opener on 70 minutes before Mane set up Idrissa Gueye made it 2-0.
Burkina Faso looked to stage a mighty comeback when Blati Toure kneed in past Mendy.
But Mane secured the win on the counter – and now hands over to pal Mo Salah to see if he can fire Egypt past Afcon hosts Cameroon in the other semi-final to set up and all-Liverpool showdown.
In a dramatic first half, Senegal had THREE penalty shouts turned down.
Firstly, Burkina Faso goalkeeper Herve Koffi came rushing out to punch clear and clattered Cheikhou Kouyate, who then fell on the stopper’s head.
But referee Bamlak Tessema Weyesa decided there was no foul when he watched the replays on the VAR monitor.

Koffi was taken down the tunnel on a stretcher after the nasty collision.
Mane was then denied a spot-kick when Issa Kabore dangled in a leg but there was not enough in it to warrant a foul.
Sub goalkeeper Farid Ouedraogo pushed away a Mane effort in the fifth minute of first-half injury time.
But there was still time for a third appeal – and this time Senegal got it… to start with.
Edmond Tapsoba blocked a sweet strike with his elbow.
But had his arm tucked into his body and Weyesa overturned his decision having taken a second look pitchside.

Senegal got their breakthrough on 70 minutes when Kalidou Koulibaly’s overhead kick from a corner fell to Diallo who side-footed home.
It should have made it 2-0 just three minutes later but a back-post header was somehow headed wide.
Seconds later, though, it was 2-0 when Mane worked hard to pinch the ball back and rolled it back for Gueye and Bamba Dieng who both claimed to get the final touch sliding into the unguarded net.
Toure’s late run into the box and unconventional finish completely bamboozled the Chelsea goalkeeper.
With eight minutes to go, the Stallions were dreaming of a dramatic second to send it into extra-time.
But a bizarre mix up in Burkina Faso’s attack as they searched for that late equaliser saw one player slide tackle another.
Senegal broke quickly and Mane did the business, dinking over Ouedraogo for his 29th international goal, tying him level with ex-Wigan and Wolves striker Henri Camara.

The ball is played into The Stallions player in the centre of his own half.
He lets the ball go through his own legs as if he thought a teammate was behind him to surge on.
    He wasn’t.
