Roy Hodgson blasted for ‘one of worst managerial decisions ever seen’ as Olise limps off after just 11 mins vs Brighton

ROY HODGSON has been slammed by fans for “one of the worst managerial decisions”.

The Crystal Palace manager was already under pressure ahead of their rival match against Brighton and Hove Albion.

The South London side got off to the worst possible start as Lewis Dunk headed the hosts ahead inside three minutes.

The Seagulls then raced into a 3-0 lead before half-time with two goals in as many minutes from Jack Hinshelwood and Facundo Buonanotte.

In an attempt to get Palace back into the game, Hodgson threw star player Michael Olise into the action for the second half.

However, it was clear why the Frenchman started on the bench as he was forced to limp off after just 11 minutes.

Olise was replaced by Matheus Franca on the 56th minute as fans hit out at the former England boss for his decision.

One fan blasted: “To put Olise on in a game we have already lost is one of the worst managerial decisions I have ever seen. And we paid the inevitable price.”

A second commented: “You don’t know what you’re doing.”

A third wrote: “Olise’s hamstring has gone. Spectacular. Don’t really get the point of bringing him on.”

A fourth said: “Olise is injured and is asking to come off. Can’t make this up.”

Another added: “Not seeing Olise till March then, Sack. Roy. Now.”

The injury blow of Olise will be massive to Palace as Eberechi Eze also missed out on the match at the Amex Stadium.

Jean-Philippe Mateta did get one back for Palace in the second half but it was not enough as Joao Pedro made sure of the result with Brighton’s fourth in the 84th minute.

Fans have been calling for a change of manager at the club after a run of three Premier League wins since October.

Olise could also be on his way out of Selhurst Park next summer with the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal all interested in his signature.

Hodgson signed a one-year deal with Palace last summer which is set to expire at the end of the season.
