Newcastle ‘keen on forgotten ex-Arsenal star in shock summer transfer’ with Bruno Guimaraes set for St James’ Park exit


NEWCASTLE are eyeing up former Arsenal midfielder Dani Ceballos as a replacement for Bruno Guimaraes, according to reports.

Brazilian Guimaraes, 26, could be on his way out this summer as the Toon look to alleviate Financial Fair Play concerns.

He has been a bit-part player for Carlo Ancelotti’s side this season

With Manchester United, Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain all circling for the midfielder, they are already planning for life without him.

And according to Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid man Ceballos, 27, is on Eddie Howe’s radar.

The ex-Real Betis man has started just one LaLiga game for Los Blancos this season.

In total, he has contributed just one goal and one assist in 21 appearances, though he has largely been used as a substitute.

Now he could on his way back to England – three years after his loan spell at Arsenal came to an end.

He is understood to be “seriously considering” a transfer away from the Bernabeu at the end of the season.

And having already played in the Premier League, Ceballos could be tempted by a switch to the North East.

He featured 77 times for Arsenal, scoring two goals and providing five assists.

He also won the FA Cup in his first year at North London, but returned to Real Madrid in 2021.

Since then, he has won a LaLiga title, the Copa del Rey, Champions League and Club World Cup.

He has also racked up some more international appearances, with Ceballos now sitting on 13 Spain caps.
