Stelling, 69, left after a huge shake-up saw many of his colleagues axed.

But the old group were back to together last night when they met up for dinner with former producer Ian Condron.

Joining them around the table was Chris Kamara, Ally McInally, Tony Cottee and Phil Thompson.

Stelling tweeted a photo with his pals alongside the caption: “Getting lively in here.”

One fan desperate to see them back on screens commented: “Jeff, you could put your own little show together on a Saturday.

“You’ve got the producer there, you have the pundits and the presenter. A bit of banter seeing the scores coming in is what we all miss.”

Stelling replied and seemingly teased that he would be open to a comeback, saying: “Just need a channel.”

The much-loved host has landed a new role on talkSPORT’s breakfast show since leaving Sky.

Opening up on why he left Soccer Saturday, Stelling told The Guardian: “The show was heading in a direction which meant it wasn’t quite the same.

“Even though I’d been there a long time, I felt some of my views weren’t considered at all.

“Every week I was fighting a battle. I got tired of fighting and it was making me ill.

“Eventually, I went to Sky’s management and said, ‘This is making me unwell. I’ve got to step away from it’.”

Since Stelling left Soccer Saturday, Simon Thomas has taken over as host.

And the likes of Clinton Morrison, Michael Dawson, Sue Smith and Kris Boyd have come in as studio pundits.

Ex-Premier League referee Mike Dean is also on hand to provide his insight.
