Gary Lineker scolds Alan Shearer for ‘disgusting thing to say’ during Rest Is Football podcast


GARY LINEKER scolded Newcastle legend Alan Shearer after his “disgusting” comment about Sunderland’s old ground.

The duo were discussing Sunderland’s former stadium, Roker Park, on the latest episode of The Rest is Football podcast along with Micah Richards.

After being asked about his experience there, Newcastle great Shearer was quick to make fun of his former rivals.

The iconic striker joked: “It’s a f***ing s***hole. And you can keep that in because it is, or was!”

All three former players burst into laughter before Lineker chimed in: “For those of you that don’t know that’s the old ground of Sunderland football club.

“I played there actually. They used to call it the Roker roar. There was a real atmosphere at that ground and it wasn’t at all s***.

“That’s a disgusting thing to say!”

Shearer made 405 appearances for his hometown club after signing from Blackburn in 1996.

He scored 206 goals for the Magpies during his 10-year spell at St James’ Park.

Shearer is also the Premier League’s all-time top goalscorer.

The current main man up front at Newcastle is Alexander Isak, who has 17 goals in 24 league games this season.

And Shearer heaped praise on the Swedish star following the club’s 4-0 win over Tottenham at the weekend.

He said: “If you get him on the pitch and you have him fit, he’s as good as there is in the Premier League. No doubt about that.

“His feet are so quick, he’s a really good finisher, as quick as there is and he’s a clever, clever footballer.”
