Fans think they’ve ‘entered the multiverse’ as forgotten Premier League flop plays padel with Stormzy

FOOTBALL fans were left utterly baffled after rapper Stormzy was pictured playing padel with forgotten Newcastle star Jeff Hendrick.

A photo of the British musician, 30, was shared on social media showing him and three others posing after a game on the court.

Stormzy was at the front of the group, but bizarrely at the back of the image was ex-Burnley midfielder Hendrick, 31.

And part of the picture’s caption made reference to the footballer.

It read: “@jeffhendrick ‘I’ve never played’.”

Hendrick, now on loan at Sheffield Wednesday, has not featured for Newcastle since the 2021-22 campaign as he has been repeatedly farmed out for several short-term stints elsewhere.

And some fans could not believe his odd padel crossover with global superstar Stormzy, particularly given he has not been available for selection since early December.

One angry Wednesday fan said: “No wonder Jeff Hendrick is nowhere near Sheffield Wednesday’s match day squads, he’s too busy playing Padel with Stormzy.”

But another saw the more intriguing side of it, adding: “Just Jeff Hendrick enjoying a game of padel with Stormzy… Interesting crossover.”

A third replied: “Jeff Hendrick and Stormzy in the same photo. What in the multiverse…”

While a fourth responded: “I’m confused by the Stormzy x Jeff Hendrick collab ngl.”

Before joining Wednesday on loan, Hendrick had spells at QPR and Reading.

He is still on Newcastle’s books, despite his last appearance coming way back in December 2021.
