Chris Kamara makes grovelling apology after he accidentally insulted a ‘mature woman’ on the Tube

FOOTBALL pundit Chris Kamara says he was shamed by a commuter when he offered her his seat on the Tube.

The ex-Sky Sports favourite said he felt like a “dinosaur” despite his apparently well-meaning gesture.

Kammy — famed for his catchphrase of “Unbelievable Jeff” when giving match updates to Soccer Saturday host Jeff Stelling — told how he was on a busy Heathrow to King’s Cross service when he offered a “mature lady” the chance to sit down in his place.

Chris, 66, said she replied: “Why would I need to?”

He added on X/Twitter: “I gave her a look of disdain.

“On reflection, I didn’t offer my seat to any blokes of a mature age.

“So my apologies. Chivalry is dead.”

The broadcaster added: “I have chewed on this since Tuesday night and realise I am still a dinosaur.

“I’m sorry and accept that I was in the wrong and hopefully won’t do it again.”

Some on the social media platform backed the star, saying: “As a mature woman, I commend your good manners.”

But others insisted he was being old-fashioned, and sexist, and one said: “I don’t want men to offer me a seat, thanks.”

Unsurprisingly, popular Chris was backed by male fans, with one saying writing: “Manners maketh the man.”

Another fan added: “She is the one at fault.

“There aren’t many of us left.”

Last year, Chris received an MBE for services to charity and anti-racism.

He has previously told how he was diagnosed with speech disorder, apraxia.

The condition affects pathways from the brain, making it difficult for someone to say what they want correctly or consistently.

Chris had experimental treatment in Mexico which he says has helped.
