Who is Campbell Hatton?

Campbell Hatton, born January 9, 2001, is a professional boxer from Manchester.

He competes in the super-lightweight division, is 5′ 5″ (1.68m) tall, and as an avid Manchester City supporter wears the club’s logo on his shorts during his fights.

Campbell is the son of former two-weight world champion Ricky Hatton.

Speaking about his father, Campbell said: “People admire my dad for his fighting and becoming a world champion.

“But they also love him because he stayed down-to-earth and very normal.

“I am really proud of both of those.

“Some fighters and a lot of successful people would get into that top position and forget about where they have come from, arrogance creeps in.

“But I feel like I can say my dad never did that and that says a lot about him as a person and that’s the way I want to be as a person.

“I hopefully won’t yoyo with my weight quite as much as he did but I want to do the same as him in almost every other way.”

Who is Campbell Hatton’s mother?

Campbell’s mother, Claire, prefers to keep out of the public spotlight, so there isn’t very much information about her available.

She and Ricky were only together for a short while, but they were both consistently involved in their son’s upbringing in Manchester. 

The boxer told MailOnline: “Mum didn’t want me to be a boxer. For a while I wasn’t. I had a go at football and rugby and dad got behind it. But he never pushed on boxing — it had to come from me.

“Boxing for me didn’t start until I was 12 or 13 when my mum gave in after the nagging. That was hard work. But after that first session I just loved it. Loved it.”

At the tender age of 14, he felt the full force of one of his former world champion dad’s famed body shots — who begged him not to tell his mum.

When he was 21, Campbell recalled the incident in an interview with the Daily Mail, saying: “I threw a shot.

“Muscle memory — he has pulled out the way and then come flying in, big left hook to the body.

“I hit the deck and I’m rolling, trying to breathe. I hear him over me, ‘S***, don’t tell your mum.'”

What is Campbell Hatton’s boxing record?

Campbell has had 14 fights so far, winning all of them with varying degrees of success.

But his next fight is his biggest step up yet — he’s fighting James Flint for a Central Area title.

Hatton, 23, has improved a lot since his first fight, and he’ll be hopeful a win against Flint can propel him onto further title fights in the next 12 months.

Flint, who is fit and firing ahead of their clash, said of the match-up: “It’s a great fight for both of us. If I beat him, it opens up many doors and I can really push on.

“Likewise for him, if he beats me. I’m not a sore loser. I’ll shake his hand, and it can open up bigger doors for him as well. It’s one of those fights.”

Hatton’s clash against Flint will take place on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at the Utilita Arena in Sheffield.
