Now his chances of heading across to the US are in jeopardy because of the length of the loan spell he — and Forest — want in Major League Soccer.

O’Brien joined Forest in the summer from Huddersfield for just over £8million.

The player played just 13 times for Steve Cooper’s side before being axed from the squad.

Forest signed 30 players across both transfer windows and not all could be registered for the squad.

Cooper’s men sit 14th in the Premier League having played 24 games.

Forest have picked up 25 points and sit four above the relegation zone.
