It was a disappointing result for West Ham, who would have been the highest-placed team left in the competition if they had beaten Liverpool.

But some amongst the unhappy travelling faithful seemingly came up with other ways to keep amused.

A pie was thrown from the recently renovated Anfield Road End – which houses both home and away fans.

It reached the six-yard box and Reds goalkeeper Kelleher was forced to pick up the piece of food before tossing it behind his goal.
