James scored twice and provided three assists as England beat China in their final group game at the Women’s World Cup.

Despite some controversial refereeing decisions, Sarina Wiegman’s side breezed to a 6-1 victory to book a round of 16 clash with Nigeria.

After watching James’ display, Batshuayi tweeted: “Damn Lauren’s got better finishing than me bro @ReeceJames.”

His former Chelsea team-mate was amused by the post as he commented a series of crying laughing emojis.

Batshuayi also replied to a fan in the comments by adding: “Honestly I’ve seen two games only but she’s very very good.”

James now has three goals and three assists in as many appearances at the tournament.

She has provided more goal contributions than any other player so far, despite only playing in her first major tournament.

The Chelsea forward has emerged as a key player for the Lionesses since coming into the side after last summer’s Euros triumph.
