Zubimendi, 24, was a January target of the Gunners but he opted to stay at the LaLiga outfit, despite the club’s willingness to pay his release clause.

He has been tipped as one of the best midfielders in Spain, with Barcelona manager Xavi suggesting he is an “extraordinary pivot”.

Arsenal also tried to sign Caicedo, 21, in the January window but saw a £70m bid rejected by Brighton, despite the midfielder handing in a transfer request.

The Ecuadorian did sign a new contract at the Amex Stadium and with the club guaranteed to be in Europe next season, he could be a tricky man to get away from the South Coast.

The last name, Neves, 26, has admitted that he wants to be playing Champions League football.

However, the report suggests that the Molineux outfit would prefer to sell him to a foreign club.

Wolves have set a price tag of £45m on the club captain, which would likely make him the most affordable option for the Gunners.

Arsenal are also in the market for a more attacking midfielder to compete with Martin Odegaard.

Chelsea’s Mason Mount and Manchester City Ilkay Gundogan have been touted as potential options for the club.
