Al-Nassr boss takes swipe at Cristiano Ronaldo and claims first-half miss cost them dearly in Saudi Super Cup defeat

AL-NASSR boss Rudi Garcia bemoaned Cristiano Ronaldo’s miss after his side were knocked out of the Saudi Super Cup.

Al-Ittihad won the semi-final clash 3-1 in Ronaldo’s second appearance for his new side.

But the match could have unfolded very differently if Ronaldo had converted a chance in the first half.

CR7 is still searching for his first Al Nassr goal after heading straight at the goalkeeper with a header inside the six-yard box.

Garcia believes that miss changed the match and played a big role in the defeat.

He said: “One of the things that changed the course of the match was Cristiano’s missed opportunity in the first half.

“I congratulate Al-Ittihad. They presented a much better first half than us, and we played a good second half, but unfortunately we were not able to adjust the result.”

Ronaldo had an evening to forget after being taunted with chants of “Messi! Messi! Messi” prior to kick-off.

The 37-year-old was also spotted hobbling off the pitch at the end of the game after suffering a suspected ankle injury.

If fit Ronaldo has a chance to put things right against Al Fateh next time out.
