  • Kevin De Bruyne reacts

“It was a great start from the team and myself. I thought we played a good game away so I’m very happy with the team.

“I try to understand the situation better. If my team makes the movements I try and find them.

“The connection with the team has been exceptional and that’s why I love playing with them.

“We alternated really well. Whenever Bernardo Silva or Phil Foden was going into the space, we went vice versa.

“Whenever we had opportunities in the first half we scored and that changed the dynamic of the game.

“Whenever [Liverpool] play you watch the game or the scores. Both teams have the most respect because we know how hard it is and we’ve been doing it for years.

“Whenever we play we have to play the game we play. That’s what we did today and we will have to do the same against West Ham.

“West Ham had a great season and played really well. It is their last home game of the season so we know it will be a tough one.

“We don’t have a lot of players but now it is commitment but it is going to be hard.”

“When you have players like De Bruyne, who can always change the game, you can have a strategy but when it comes to players like this they can score four goals and finish the game.

“With that performance we can do nothing about it.

“We had a good response to the first goal. Suddenly they scored two goals quite quickly and we lost a bit.

“We tried all the time to come back, we can’t so this is the final result.

“We look game by game. We will try to collect as much points as we can. We have six points to fight for.

“We always tried to be a threat to the other team, even when we were losing.”

  • Pep Guardiola reacts

When speaking to Sky Sports, Guardiola said: “We played really well in this stadium we know how difficult it is. Three points, rest and then West Ham.”

“He (De Bruyne) has played the last two or three months especially in the Premier League outstanding, and in the Champions League as well. He has been our key man in this part of the season.

“It is not just what he creates and the goals and everything. He helps us a lot. I am happy because Kevin is so generous and always thinking the best for the team but this year is also the most prolific for him.

“Always we concede a goal when we don’t deserve. In that moment we were in control. We concede goal but after we found a goal quickly and that helped us a lot.”
