With Antalyaspor trailing 1-0 in the 59th minute, Shoya was thrown on from the bench by boss Nuri Sahin to try and salvage something from the match.

But his appearance unfortunately had the opposite effect.

Just nine seconds after play restarted, the 28-year-old lunged into a tackle.

The referee initially got his yellow card out, but was instructed to head to the VAR monitor.

After a quick look he opted to change his decision, giving Shoya his marching orders.

The TV director appeared to find the winger’s family and friends in the crowd – with what appeared to be his mother in tears as her boy trudged off the pitch.

Prior to Shoya’s dismissal, both sides had already fallen to ten men.

Antalyaspor’s Soner Aydogdu was sent off after just eight minutes.

While Yaroslav Rakitskyi was also shown a red card before the break.

Antalyaspor were unable to prevent being on the wrong end of a hiding after again falling a man short.

Former Montpellier star Younes Belhanda had already given the visitors the lead inside 60 seconds, with Norway international Fredrik Gulbrandsen making it two after Shoya’s red card.

Former Watford, Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough ace Britt Assombalonga then popped up to make it 3-0 late on.

The defeat leaves Antalyaspor 13th in the table after seven matches – having won two and lost five.
