Piers Morgan and Arsenal fans say the say same thing after Mikel Arteta plays ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ in training

ARSENAL fans – including Piers Morgan – have been left baffled after Mikel Arteta blared Liverpool’s famous ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ anthem in training.

A number of the Spaniard’s unique methods are set to be revealed in Amazon Prime’s All Or Nothing documentary on the Gunners, which is released tomorrow.

Ahead of the release Amazon Prime shared a clip of Arteta preparing his side for their daunting trip to Anfield last season.

Arteta spoke about how the only time he was ever overwhelmed on the pitch in his career was when he played in a match at Liverpool.

So in a crude attempt to replicate the atmosphere at the stadium and prepare his players for the challenge, Arteta instructed his staff to bring huge speakers out onto the training pitch.

The boss told his players: “Boys, mentally we start to play the game now. We are at Anfield. Let’s go.”

He then proceeded to blast ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ through them as his players trained.

Arteta explained to his staff: “One of my crazy ideas is today they’re going to train [with] in the background ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’.”

Unfortunately for Arteta the plan backfired on him in spectacular fashion as the Gunners were blown away 4-0 by the Reds.

And fans have been left baffled by Arteta’s bizarre tactics, which also included letting a club photographer handle a pre-match team talk before the North London derby.

Lifelong supporter Piers Morgan wrote on Twitter: “What on earth is Arteta doing? This is insane… and guess what, we lost 4-0.”

Another wrote: “This guy making us look small bring back Wenger NOW.”

A third added: “This is honestly one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen.”

Some though did praise Arteta for his innovative methods, despite the failed end result.

One Arsenal fan said on social media: “Love it! Progressive manager, thinking outside the box. Doesn’t matter that we got beat 4-0 that game, this training method didn’t cause the result.”

And another defended Arteta by saying: “Arsenal haven’t won at Anfield for long trying a new ideas to get a point is useful even if you fail, better to try than doing nothing.”
