Mesut Ozil’s agent makes dig at former Arsenal team-mate and reveals why he’ll never play for another English club

Ozil, 34, joined Arsenal for £42million from Real Madrid in 2013.

He scored 44 goals in 254 games while winning three FA Cups.

And despite his time ending on a sour note in January 2021, Ozil remains a firm Gooners favourite.

He has since played for Fenerbahce, and now represents Istanbul Basaksehir after joining in the summer.

But one thing is for certain: Ozil will never ply his trade in England again.

Agent Erkut Sogut claims the midfielder loved his time at Arsenal so much that he could never be tempted to return to the Premier League with another side.

That’s unlike former teammate Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who left Arsenal for Barcelona in January.

He made a shock comeback to the top flight with the Gunners’ fierce rivals Chelsea.

And Aubameyang will reunite with angry Gooners when the two sides play each other this weekend.

Sogut also revealed Ozil remains in touch with many of Arsenal’s current stars, and has formed a special bond with new club hero Bukayo Saka.

Sogut told Tribal Football: “Ozil could never play for another English club, he’s not like Aubameyang.

“He loved his time at Arsenal and is still in contact with a lot of players, not least Saka. They have a special relationship.”
