Both incidents saw Red Devils players surround the respective referees protesting decisions.

United were found to be in breach of FA Rule E20.1 after Cristiano Ronaldo and his team-mates protested the decision to disallow the striker’s goal during the 0-0 Old Trafford draw with the Toon.

And they have been punished for a similar incident against Chelsea, when they complained about the awarding of a penalty for a foul by Scott McTominay on Armando Broja.

The Red Devils have been fined £45k for the incident against Newcastle and £37k for the Chelsea melee.

Another added: “If only the refs were any good at their jobs, even with video replays they’re still awful.”
