England given just 2,500 tickets for World Cup 2022 opener against Iran as allocation and prices are revealed

ENGLAND will have less than 2,500 “official” fans at their opening World Cup match after Fifa confirmed their ticket allocation to the FA.

But lucky supporters could follow Gareth Southgate’s men through all seven matches to the final – if they get there – for £1,221.

Members of the England Supporters Travel Club had until yesterday to apply for the official Three Lions allocation.

Fifa set aside 8 per cent of the “available seating capacity” for each team.

It means that the FA were given just 2,489 seats for the opening game against Iran at the Khalifa International Stadium on November 21.

Of those, 1,785 were in the lowest-priced “Category 3” seats, priced at £53 each, with 595 of the £126 “Category 2” tickets and just 100 of the highest priced seats, available at £168 each.

The same prices will stand for the other two group games, with the FA given 4,158 seats for the match against USA in the 60,000-capacity Al Bayt Stadium on November 25 and back down to 2,339 for the third group game, against Scotland, Wales or Ukraine, at the Ahmad bin Ali Stadium on November 29.

While the allocation could rise – and will do if England win group B to play potentially three knock-out games at Al Bayt – the initial allocation for the last 16 is 3,009 tickets, with 2,175 of them priced at £81 and 100 of the top priced seats at £358 each.

The FA have been promised a minimum 3,509 seats – starting at £173 for the 2,550 category 3 tickets – for a potential quarter final.

Category 1 seats for that match – the allocation to the FA is again just 100 – will cost £358 with the remaining tickets priced at £243.

If England reach the last four, they will have 3,375 tickets – out of a total allocation of 4,609 – at £300 each, with the highest-priced 100 seats costing £804.

And if Southgate’s side do go all the way, the FA will start with 5,109 seats for the December 18 final in the Lusail Stadium, with 3,750 costing £508 each and the 100 top-priced available seats at an eye-popping £1352.
