The Brit has won eight times in his F1 career at Silverstone.

But this season, Mercedes’ car is well off the pace of Ferrari and championship leaders Red Bull.

The Silver Arrows have suffered with porpoising, leaving Hamilton with a bad back after Baku.

Ahead of this weekend’s action, Hamilton has posted a throwback of him as a kid riding a skateboard.

And it was accompanied by an updated picture of the 37-year-old showing off his tricks.

The Instagram post was captioned: “Same energy.”

Merc chief technical officer James Allison has said he’ll cry if Hamilton pulls off a win on home soil.

But he has admitted it may need a Max Verstappen slip-up to happen.

He told Sky Sports: “Everyone in our factory doesn’t dare say it, but we are cautiously optimistic of having a more competitive weekend than some of those we’ve had of late.

“I think some of the characteristics of this circuit will suit the car.

“We don’t have a car capable of winning from the front yet, but as long as we can get it tamed through Maggots, Becketts and around the faster corners, we have a decent chance of a competitive showing this weekend.

“Maybe if the Red Bull stumbles, who knows, but I’m hopeful of a better weekend.

“I’d cry [if Mercedes find a win]. I’ve got my fingers crossed that we’ll have a creditable showing with a car that’s definitely on the mend.”
