Conor Benn slams Chris Eubank Jr and his dad as ’embarrassing’ after Sr called for grudge fight to be SCRAPPED

CONOR BENN reckons Chris Eubank Sr is trying to kill off the showdown with his son because he is sour about being cut out of the mega-money deal.

Chris Sr, 56, insists he is worried for his boy’s health over the 157lbs catchweight bout and wants it axed.

But 33-year-old Jr has regularly made the middleweight limit of 160lbs and has posted photos throughout this Brighton training camp of himself scoffing fried chicken, birthday cakes and burgers.

And 26-year-old Benn believes Eubank Sr’s real beef is that he is missing out on a slice of the pay-per-view pie.

Benn said: “He took it to a place he didn’t need to take it.

“Maybe he was upset about his son not including him, it just shows a dysfunctional team on their side.

“How can his son be out eating burgers, then his dad is saying he’s worried about his son because he’s losing three pounds.”

Two-weight world champ Eubank Sr — who shared an iconic rivalry with Conor’s dad Nigel in the 1990s — was heavily involved in his boy’s early career and regularly stole the limelight.

But he has spent more time in Africa in recent years.

So it was a shock when Jr asked his father to be his head trainer for the October 8 second-generation showdown — only to be snubbed.

Benn reckons it is symbolic of their fractured relationship.

He said: “You don’t know what they’re doing, they’re all a bit crackers. It’s just all a bit embarrassing.

“Jr’s whole career has been embarrassing, from his dad standing there in the corner — just staring at his son — to this whole situation.

“I wouldn’t be posting myself eating rubbish when my dad is openly concerned about my health.”

Benn’s sole focus is on adding Eubank Jr’s name to his hitlist in devastating fashion.

He said: “I’m confident in beating any man.

“I work hard enough, I know what I’m made of, I know what I can do.

“Whoever it is. I do what I’m supposed to do and more. It’s not just about beating someone, it’s how you look beating someone.

“You can’t take away from the victories I’ve had. Call me delusional, call me very confident, call me what you want. I believe I can be the first man to stop Chris.”
