Cameras showed the moment the Roma ace collected his medal and spent a couple of seconds looking at it in awe.

He then headed straight towards the camera lens and with a huge grin on his face shouted: “Look mum, look!”

Florenzi also posted a picture of himself with the trophy on Instagram alongside the caption: “This is for all of you, you who have suffered in these 18 months… we just tried to make you proud of us and to put all the ITALIAN spirit on the field!”

Italy’s celebrations continued long into the night with captain Georginio Chiellini sleeping with the trophy and his winner’s medal.

He was also pictured laying down in bed alongside defensive partner Leonardo Bonucci with the trophy separating the duo.

The Italians also wildly celebrated inside the Wembley dressing room.

Azzurri players chanted as assistant coach Daniele De Rossi took a spectacular head-first plunge in their Wembley dressing room.

The former Roma and Boca Juniors ace slid across a beer soaked table after Italy’s win.

Supporters took to the streets across the European nation with ‘It’s Coming Rome’ signs and letting off fireworks.

It is no surprise the Italians made the most of their success after completing a dramatic turnaround in fortunes.

They failed to even qualify for the World Cup three years but Roberto Mancini has transformed his side as they extended their unbeaten stretch to 34 games.
