RANGERS fans caused a safety breach which forced Sky to evacuate their punditry team to a safer spot in the stands when they climbed up the walls of Ibrox.

The win also rounded off on Invincible league season for Gers.

Thousands of fans have been camped outside Ibrox since early this morning, setting off smoke bombs and flares and waving giant flags.

Sky’s TV team of Eilidh Barbour, Ally McCoist and Kris Boyd were covering the game and as the celebrations reached new levels both inside and outside the stadium, the presenter revealed they had to evacuate their position and set up an impromptu studio in the stands at Ibrox.

Barbour said: “We’ve had to move from our studio due to a bit of a safety breach at the stadium here.

“Fans outside are starting to come up on the wall so we have moved.

“But I do still have Kris Boyd and Ally McCoist with me. I am not letting them get out here and enjoy the party which is going on out there on the pitch.”

Barbour then asked Gers legend McCoist how he felt watching the celebrations unfold.

McCoist was Rangers manager back in 2012 when the club was relegated to the fourth tier of Scottish football.

He remained in charge until 2014 and admitted it was an emotional day for him as he remembered all that’s happened in nine years – including unprecedented success for Old Firm rivals Celtic across the city.

The former striker said that some of his signings wouldn’t have been “anywhere near” Ibrox under normal circumstances.

When asked if he was feeling emotional, McCoist told Sky Sports: “It is, Eilidh. My first thoughts are with the supporters who have been fantastic throughout administration and liquidation, their support for the club has been monumental.

“I’m also thinking of guys like Sandy Jardine who are no longer with us.

“He used to come into the office, we would chew the fat and have a right good moan about everything when we were going through that period.

“Some people lost their jobs through that time.

“Some players who came and played in the third division, second division, to be honest with you they would never be anywhere near Ibrox, but I’m forever grateful to those guys who helped us on this journey which has culminated in Steven and the boys doing a fantastic job this season.

“It’s a wonderful achievement and it is emotional, yes it is.”
