Mauro Icardi ‘desperate to quit PSG this summer amid Premier League transfer interest but £8.6m-a-year wages an issue’

PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN striker Mauro Icardi wants to leave the club, according to reports.

The 28-year-old is believed to be keen on a Premier League move, but his reported £165,000-a-week salary could be a sticking point.

According to French newspaper L’Equipe, Icardi’s agents – one of which is his wife Wanda Nara – are wanting to move their client on this summer.

The Argentina international has struggled with injuries during his time in Paris, making just 35 Ligue 1 appearances since joining the club on loan in 2019.

It is believed PSG want to recuperate the £43million they spent on the player when they signed him permanently last summer.

The former Inter Milan striker is said to want a return to Italy, but most clubs will not be able to afford his considerable salary.

Icardi is also believed to be interested in moving to England, putting the Premier League’s richest sides on red alert.

He remains one of the most feared forwards in European football despite his poor injury record, scoring 111 goals in 188 Serie A appearances for Inter.

Chelsea had been linked with Icardi before he signed a permanent deal at PSG last summer.

And the man who signed him for the French side was current Blues boss Thomas Tuchel.

It is believed Tuchel wants to sign a new striker this summer, although Icardi is not currently part of the rumoured shortlist.

Other clubs that could be interested are Manchester United – who may lose Edinson Cavani this summer – and Manchester City, who will need to replace the departing Sergio Aguero.
