The first ever Merseyside derby took place way back in 1894 with Everton beating Liverpool with a score of 3-0 at home.

Since that day the two rivals have faced off a total of 235 times with the Reds picking up a majority of 93 wins compared to the Toffees’ 66.

Everton are still looking for their first victory at Anfield this century as they haven’t been able to best their foes away since 1999 with Liverpool winning 14 out of a total of 24 home matches in the process across all competitions.

In fact, Jurgen Klopp’s men have won all four of the most recent Merseyside derbies at home, two in the Premier League and another two in the FA Cup

  • GOOD AFTERNOON FROM LIVERPOOL

Welcome to our live coverage of the Merseyside derby between Liverpool and Everton at Anfield.

The Reds will look to climb back up to the top four of the Premier League table but will have to do it without Fabinho, who has been standing in at centre-back throughout the season due to the reigning champions’ ongoing defensive crisis.

The Brazil international is still nursing a muscle injury and is expected to be replaced by loan signing Ozan Kabak, who will be making his Anfield debut.

James Milner and Diogo Jota remain unavailable for this major Premier League clash as they are still dealing with a hamstring and knee injury respectively.

The same goes for star defender Virgil van Dijk, who continues his rehabilitation after suffering anterior cruciate ligament damage to his knee in the first meeting with Everton this season back in October.

But it’s not all doom and gloom for Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp as Naby Keita has returned to first-team training and is in contention to feature in his first match since December.

Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti has received a major boost ahead of the derby as star striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin will be available for selection after overcoming a hamstring injury.

However, Yerry Mina is expected to be sidelined for four weeks due to a calf knock he suffered against Manchester City on Wednesday.

Jean-Philippe Gbamin is still out with an Achilles injury, but Allan could make a comeback from a hamstring problem he’s been dealing with since mid-December
