Liverpool 3 AC Milan 2 LIVE REACTION: Salah, Henderson and Tomori OG give Reds victory in Champions League classic

LIVERPOOL and AC Milan played out a Champions League thriller under the lights at Anfield.

Fikayo Tomori’s own goal had the Reds ahead early on, and it could have been more but Mo Salah saw his penalty saved.

And Liverpool were made to pay as Andre Rebic and Brahim Diaz netted in a crazy two minutes just before the break.

But Salah wasn’t to be denied and moments into the second half drew the Reds level, before Jordan Henderson’s stunning volley completed the turnaround.

  • THAT’S ALL

A great European night and a great result for Liverpool in the end.

A tough group means it’s vital that you win your home games and that is what they have done.

But with their start to the season, the other three sides won’t be confident of hosting the Reds either.

    Goodbye!

  • STARTING RIGHT

An opening night win for Liverpool appears to be the norm.

14 years since their first defeat on matchday one.

  • KLOPP REACTS

The Liverpool manager thrilled to get off to a good start.

He was bemused about the strength of the group Liverpool have to face, given Milan are Pot 4 picks.

We started spectacularly with a super, super game.
Then we got a bit carried away by our own football actually. We weren’t composed on the ball up the park.
It was not nice but it didn’t feel like we couldn’t come back in the second-half.
We had to go back to how we were then scored two incredible goals and it was deserved.
A European night at Anfield, I love it.

  • CAPTAIN TALKS

Tonight’s match-winner gives his thoughts on tonight’s game.

It was his first goal in this competition since 2014!

It was a good game, good for the neutrals definitely.
It was nice having the fans back, the atmosphere was amazing.
It was nice to get back on the scoresheet too, it’s something I have been working on in that position.

  • HOW WE STAND

An early look at the Group B table.

It finished goalless in the other game between Atletico and Porto.

    Liverpool top the group.

  • ROBBO REACTS

The Scotland skipper gives his reaction after the game.

There wasn’t much to sort at half-time.
The space in front of the defence got bigger and they managed to pick spaces.
It was important to fix that at half-time. When you play in this tournament, when these teams smell blood they normally take it.
It was tough but we enjoyed it again in the second-half and got a deserved win.

First Rebic then Brahim Diaz bagging in the space of two minutes.
