Kepa makes ANOTHER howler for Chelsea as flop keeper lets ball spill through him from tame shot against Luton

CHELSEA keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga was at fault for ANOTHER goal as his miserable form continued.

The Spaniard was handed a rare start in between the posts as he replaced summer signing Edouard Mendy against Luton.

Kepa came in for the FA Cup, having kept a clean sheet in the previous round against Morecambe.

But he was unable to do so against Luton as a volley went right through his palms and into the back of the net.

Jordan Clark hit a cross on the half volley and what looked like a routine stop turned nightmare for Kepa.

It didn’t cost Lampard’s men anything as they ran out 3-1 winners to book a fifth-round spot.

But fans online slammed Kepa’s latest gaffe and even claimed they felt sorry for the record £71.6million stopper.

One said: “Genuinely feel for Kepa. He needs to go not because he is terrible but because he is never going to regain his confidence with us.”

Another said: “Kepa really needs a loan move to get his confidence back. Feel sorry for him.”

One added: “Kepa Arrizabalaga has now let in more shots than he has saved this season.

“Just so, so poor. Feel sorry for him. This move away can’t come soon enough for his career.”

Another added: “Yikes. For Kepa’s own well being I hope he gets a move away from Chelsea ASAP.”

Pundit Danny Murphy questioned Lampard’s motivations for playing the former Athletic Bilbao stopper.

Murphy said: “He should have saved it, no doubt about that. Great for Luton getting back in the game but the keeper should do better.

“It’s too often with him. We were talking during the game, I don’t think Frank wants to play him. It is not hit with any velocity.

“Obviously he’s not going to be playing in the forthcoming games. Is he playing him to put him in the shop window? If he is and he’s making mistakes…”

Fellow pundit Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink refuted suggestions Kepa was unsighted.

The former Chelsea striker said: “He needs to save this. He sees enough of the ball and of the player going to hit the ball.

“It definitely doesn’t help. Every time he goes in goal for Chelsea he’s under pressure because of how it’s going and what happened last year.

“If you look at other goalkeepers in the league, at the top end, they would save this. That’s where he’s at, that’s the problem.”

Kepa slightly redeemed himself with a fine stop in the second half while Chelsea held a one-goal lead.

Hatters hotshot Harry Cornick was picked out in the box after a free-flowing break, he unleashed a strike at goal but the Blues stopper expertly kept it out.

Chelsea will travel to Championship side Barnsley in the fifth round.
