Italy team touch down in London but nearly left Vialli at home after bus set off without him ahead of Euro 2020 final

THIS is the hilarious moment the Italy team bus drove off WITHOUT legendary coach Gianluca Vialli.

The Azzurri squad touched down at Luton Airport this afternoon after leaving their training base in Florence earlier to catch the flight for the Euro 2020 final against England.

But they almost forgot one of the key members of the coaching staff in former Chelsea star Vialli.

It was a real head-in-the-hands moment for the bus driver – literally – when he realised there was one man missing.

Clearly having not bothered to do a head count, the driver stopped the coach and out trotted Vialli wearing a flat cap to board the coach.

The pair enjoyed a little joke before the 57-year-old boarded and they were able to set off.

ITALY ON A RUN

Italy have enjoyed a stunning tournament so far, and are now 33 games unbeaten.

Roberto Mancini has completely transformed the nation’s fortunes and it seems a far cry since they failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup.

And Vialli has been taken to the heart of football fans around the world.

His wild celebrations after Italy sneaked past Austria 2-1 after extra-time in the last 16 went viral.

Viewers loved seeing the stylish star back on top form following his battle with pancreatic cancer.

One tweeted: “So good to see Luca looking so well.”

Another wrote: “Vialli fought off cancer. I know he’s living every moment of this to the fullest. I’m so happy for him.”

While a fellow fan commented: “Gianluca Vialli has fought pancreatic cancer multiple times and won. He still suffers from the after-effects of his treatments.

“Seeing him this happy warms the heart of every Italian.”

Vialli, 56, revealed in November 2018 he had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

He underwent chemotherapy and about 18 months later announced he was all clear of the disease.
