CRISTIANO RONALDO has equalled a Juventus goalscoring record that has stood for 63 years.

Ronaldo, 35, bagged his 15th Serie A goal of the season in the Old Lady’s 16th league game of the campaign.

The former Real Madrid man has matched Welshman John Charles’ barnstorming start to the 1957-58 season.

Charles – who died aged 72 in 2004 – was nicknamed ‘The Gentle Giant’ and scored 108 goals in 155 games in the famous black and white shirt during a five-year spell between 1957 and 1962.

Incredibly, Ronaldo has achieved the feat despite only playing in 13 of the Bianconeri’s games.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner missed two matches after contracting coronavirus.

Ronaldo was also rested for the 1-1 draw away at Benevento in November.

But the Portuguese icon nearly missed out on equalling Charles’ feat.

Italian Golden Boot frontrunner Ronaldo’s crucial strike came in the second minute of stoppage time of the 3-1 win against Sassuolo at the Allianz Stadium.

Former Arsenal star Aaron Ramsey also found the net as he continues his resurgence in Andrea Pirlo’s side.

By registering double figures in the league this season in December, Ronaldo made it 15 consecutive seasons of scoring ten or more league goals.

But he was matched by GOAT rival Lionel Messi last weekend with the two now jointly holding the record for the most successive seasons of double-figure goal tallies across Europe’s top four leagues.

Ronaldo is chasing down legend Josef Bican as he aims to top the pile for most official career goals EVER.
