How Tyson Fury set Joseph Parker up with one of his top three coaches Andy Lee to help send Chisora into retirement

TYSON FURY set up Joseph Parker with one of his top three coaches Andy Lee to potentially inflict more damage on old pal Derek Chisora.

Fury twice beat Chisora, in 2011 and then three years later, but since then the two have formed a friendship.

So much so that the Gypsy King offered his former rival a third fight before they retire.

But if Parker, who faces Chisora this Saturday, has it his way there will be no need, as he would have forced ‘Del Boy’ to hang his gloves up early.

Fury, 32, will have some part to play in it, as he linked the Kiwi up with his current assistant coach, former middleweight champion Lee.

Parker told Sky Sports: “I thought, ‘Who shall I ask for advice?’ What better man to ask than Tyson Fury?

“So I gave him a call and he said to me that there’s three trainers in the world that he rates really highly – and he said that Andy Lee was one of them.

“He said: ‘Why don’t I give Andy Lee a text and see if he’s available?'”

Lee revealed only days after first speaking to Parker, the New Zealander was on a flight to Ireland.

He said: “Tyson called me, he said: ‘Would you like to train Joseph Parker?’

“I said: ‘I’ll talk to him.’ On the Wednesday, Joseph landed in Ireland.”

Parker, 29, hired Lee, 36, following his split with long-time trainer Kevin Barry after their win over Junior Fa, 31, in February.

Chisora, 37, comes into his fourth straight pay-per-view fight having lost against Oleksandr Usyk, 34, in October, in a heavyweight headliner.

Defeat In Manchester would be his 11th in 43 outings, and enough to be his last, Parker reckons.

He said: : “I feel like when I beat him, he should retire, but that’s up to him. Derek has his own plans.”
