Haak keeps VakifBank at top of Turkish League


Lausanne, Switzerland, February 28, 2020 – Consistently her team’s top scorer throughout the season, Sweden’s Isabelle Haak once again delivered this week as she led VakifBank Istanbul to a 3-0 (25-14, 25-17, 25-17) sweep of Karayollari as the Regular Season of the Turkish League nears its end.

The win, in which Haak jointly top-scored on 13 points with Ebrar Karakurt, keeps VakifBank at the top of the table, three points ahead of crosstown archrivals Eczacibasi VitrA, with two rounds left in the Regular Season.

Haak is currently second best scorer of the Turkish League in points per set at 5.46, trailing only Eczacibasi’s Tijana Boskovic on 5.98. In absolute numbers she ranks 5th with 295 points.

But the 20-year-old opposite has also been shining in the European Champions League, having already led VakifBank to the quarterfinals and now awaiting their home-and-away clashes in the last eight against Russia’s Dinamo Moscow.

Haak is currently top scorer of that competition amongst players of teams still in contention, with 131 points from six matches. She also features at No. 5 in the best blockers list in absolute numbers, having registered 19 stuffs.
