Wolves complete signing of Olympiakos winger Daniel Podence in £17m transfer

WOLVES have completed the £16.9million signing of Olympiakos midfielder Daniel Podence.

The Portuguese playmaker arrives from the Greek giants on a four-and-a-half-year-deal subject to international clearance.

The 24-year-old is Nuno Espirito Santo’s third signing of the window and will join Enzo Loiodice and Leonardo Campana.

Podence awaits international clearance but Wolves are hopeful that will be sorted before their trip to Manchester United on Saturday.

His medical was completed on Wednesday.

Podence terminated his contract with Sporting Lisbon in 2018 and joined Olympiakos on a five-year-deal.

The attacking midfielder has bagged five goals and contributed five assists in 27 appearances for the Greeks so far this campaign.

Podence, who joins the big Portuguese contingent at Molineux, can play as a ‘number ten’ or off either flank much like Leicester’s James Maddison.

And asked how he felt about the move, Podence said: “I’m very excited.

“It was always a childhood dream of mine to play in the Premier League and I look at this achievement as a dream come true.

“Wolves are a team with a big project, with ambitious goals to look forward to, where I’ll get to meet former team-mates who I had the pleasure to play with in the past.

“I hope to be very successful here.”
