When does the Premier League 2020/21 season start, when will fixtures be released, and can fans attend the games?


THE Premier League season comes to an end on Sunday with every team playing in a bumper set of fixtures.

With Liverpool already confirmed champions and the transfer window soon to open, attention is already starting to turn to the 2020/21 campaign.

Prem bosses have now confirmed when regularly scheduled football is due to return and eager fans will be happy they won’t have to go without for too long.

When will the 2020/21 Premier League season begin?

  • The Premier League season is due to begin on September 12.
  • The season will end later than normal – as they started later – with the final game being played on May 23, 2021.
  • The current Premier League season is due to conclude on Sunday, 26 July.
  • Fixtures have NOT yet been confirmed and will be released at a later date.

When will the Championship, League One and League two resume?

The Championship, League One and League Two will resume on the same day with the EFL confirming they will return on the same day as the Premier League.

However, the other leagues will end on May 8 and 9.

The 2019/2020 Championship regular season has already conluded with play-offs scheduled for July 26 onwards.

When will fans be able to return to stadiums?

With the country entering stage five of the coronavirus plan, it could see the return of football fans in stadium as early as September.

It may involve the closure of toilets during half-time, filling one in every three seats and only having home fans in the stadiums.

However, there have been no confirmed plans of any of this yet.
