Sheffield United eyeing up transfer swoop for ex-Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge as well as £25m Rhian Brewster

SHEFFIELD UNITED are reportedly eyeing a shock swoop for Daniel Sturridge as they also close in on Liverpool’s Rhian Brewster.

The Mail claims Chris Wilder is keen on snapping up free agent Sturridge following his release from Turkish side Trabzanspor earlier this year.

The ex-Liverpool, Chelsea and Man City striker, 31, has been without a club since his Super Lig adventure was ended in March.

But Sturridge has been training hard to keep himself fit.

And despite being linked with David Beckham’s Inter Miami, the English hitman has his sights set on another shot in the Premier League.

Sheffield Utd are eager to strengthen their forward line before next month’s transfer deadline.

And a deal securing Sturridge until the end of the season is starting to look like a real possibility.

Wilder is also closing in on young attacker Brewster, who is valued at £25million by Liverpool.

And his latest social media activity suggests he would be keen on a switch to Bramall Lane.

And Brewster could soon be forging a new partnership with old Anfield teammate Sturridge in the city of steel.

Premier League and two-time Champions League winner Sturridge revealed earlier this month he was eager to return to England.

He told Sky Sports: “We have options around the world but I’m an English player and I’ve always loved playing in the Premier League.

“I believe I’ve got a lot to give to the Premier League and I would say that’s my first choice.

“I do feel I have unfinished business so I would like to go back and play there.

“I’m open to playing in other leagues, it’s not just the Premier League I’m going to consider, but to come back to England and give my best would be a huge option for me.

“I’m very excited, I’m hungrier than ever and I’m totally focused on the next chapter.”
