Real Madrid make Liverpool star Sadio Mane one of top transfer targets with Zidane ‘huge admirer’

REAL MADRID are set for a summer transfer battle as they have made Liverpool forward Sadio Mane one of their top targets.

The Senegal star, 27, has been in sensational form for Jurgen Klopp’s side over the past two seasons, helping the Reds to the summit of the Premier League this season with nine games remaining.

The form of Mane has caught the attention of Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane, who is a huge admirer.

According to the Mirror, Zidane is hoping to lure Mane to the Bernabeu as the Spanish giants prepare for another spending spree to boost their squad.

The former Southampton star has bagged 16 goals in 35 appearances so far as he and his Liverpool teammates sit 25 points clear at the top of the Premier League.

Despite being dumped out of the Champions League by Atletico Madrid last week, Klopp’s side are set to secure their first title in 30 years if the league resumes following the coronavirus break.

Mane has trademarked his name as Liverpool players prepare to cash in on Premier League title glory with millions in endorsements.

The forward has been interviewed in an “SM10” cap and has registered his brand with the Government’s Intellectual Property Office, The Telegraph says.

Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar each scoop £20milion-plus from a string of endorsement deals, making them sport’s top earners overall.

Since joining from Southampton in 2016, Mane has progressed into one of the world’s best and added a Champions League title last year to his impressive individual stats.

Mane’s fellow Senegal star, Papiss Cisse, insists the Ballon d’Or is next on the list.

The 34-year-old said: “Mane is doing very well at Liverpool and I knew he would make it to the top — but he can do even more.

“If you are doing something like this and reaching these levels then you cannot stop, you need to push again to show you can do even more.

“Every time we speak on the phone I tell him ‘You can do it, you can become the very best. Believe in yourself’.”
