It means the British government will pay 80 per cent of their salaries despite the extraordinary riches in England’s top flight.

Mike Ashley, the owner of Newcastle who is worth around £2.3billion, was the first to make non-playing staff furlough before Spurs and European Champions Liverpool followed.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy was also paid a staggering £7million last year.

The move has been derided by the club’s own support for making the most out of the government initiative.

And die-hard Arsenal fan Morgan thinks fans should vote on their feet by refusing to stump up the cash to buy season tickets.

Speaking on GMB, he ranted: “If you’re a season ticket holder at Liverpool, Tottenham or Newcastle with billionaire owners who are using British taxpayers money at this time, just don’t pay your season ticket next season.

“If you’re not going to take care of your staff in their darkest moment, if you’re going to fleece to the British taxpayer and save your billions, we are not going to line your greedy pockets next season.

“These people only understand one thing and that’s money. It’s all they care about.

“It’s disgusting what’s going on at Liverpool, Tottenham and Newcastle.

“On the other side it’s brilliant what’s going on at clubs like West Brom who don’t have that kind of money and are doing the right thing.

“The fans can drive this. It’s totally disgraceful.”
