Olivier Giroud ‘demands three-year contract’ to join Inter Milan with Chelsea striker set for transfer

OLIVIER GIROUD has reportedly demanded ‘a three-year contract’ to join Inter Milan with the Chelsea striker set for a transfer.

The Italian outfit have rekindled their interest for the Blues frontman but have only put a two-year deal on the table.

The French 33-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and former boss Antonio Conte is keen on bringing the World Cup winner to San Siro.

The only thing that seems to be standing in the way is a dispute over the length of contract with Giroud eager to pen a three-year-deal.

Giroud was desperate for a way out of Chelsea in January in a bid to find regular game time and the Serie A giants were said to be in talks for weeks with the Frenchman since December.

But the 33-year-old was left fuming when the Italian side pulled the plug late on in the transfer window – claiming the Christian Eriksen transfer meant they couldn’t stump up any more cash.

Giroud was left unhappy at being strung along by the “disrespectful” Italian club.

Giroud was out of favour under new gaffer Frank Lampard at the start of the season and looked destined to leave Stamford Bridge midway through the campaign.

He had made just two league starts by the time the transfer window closed and was understandably angered that he was unable to move elsewhere.

But Tammy Abraham’s misfortune with an ankle injury was a stroke of luck for Giroud as the veteran striker was recalled into Lampard’s starting XI.

The Frenchman played a vital role in the FA Cup fifth round win over Liverpool before finding the back of the net last time out in the 4-0 thrashing of Everton.

He has managed seven goals in 19 games for club and country this season.
