Michail Antonio unable to ‘look at his son’ after FIFA defeat to Tottenham’s Ryan Sessegnon sets up horrendous forfeit

FOOTBALL fans may be lamenting the absence of their beloved game but Michail Antonio and Ryan Sessegnon brought some much needed respite on Friday evening – with the Tottenham man coming out on top.

A London derby showdown between the pair on FIFA 20 resulted in a 2-0 win for Spurs which will result in a humiliating forfeit for West Ham’s Antonio.

The winger joked of a “broken controller” after being taken apart on the video game, leaving him “unable to look his son in the face”.

It is fair to say the scoreline didn’t tell the whole story as Tottenham had two penalties saved and hit the woodwork on course to the win.

Sessegnon even showed how much of an impact Jose Mourinho’s tactics are having on his approach to the game, having just 49 per cent of the ball but still grabbing the victory and clean sheet.

Although the wide-man didn’t get on the scoresheet with his own virtual player, instead it was Giovani Lo Celso and Lucas Moura bagging the goals.

But while Sessegnon was the clear victor, there was also a worthy cause involved with player agency USM, who represent both players, donating £1,000 to the mental health charity MIND.

Viewers flocked to watch the action unfold on Twitch and Antonio appeared on Instagram afterwards to discuss the result.

He stated: “I’m really disappointed in myself. I want to say sorry to all the West Ham fans out there who watched me play. It was embarrassing. I am better than that. I don’t even know what to say.

“I can’t look at my son. I almost lied to him [about the score].

“I’m going to be better next time. There’s going to be a next time and I will be better. I’m going to do some serious training now.”

As per the pre-game bet, Antonio must now don a Spurs shirt in an excruciating forfeit for the Hammers star, 29.

He has also insisted on a rematch amid football’s shutdown due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Writing on Twitter, Antonio remarked: “ABSOLUTELY GUTTED! Was embarrassing out there today and I’m way better than that. The passing was off, shooting was bad and couldn’t tackle. I think it’s clear what’s happened…

“My controller must have been broken. I’LL BE BACK.”

Addressing his fans, Sessegnon felt the two-goal margin could have been far more significant.

The 19-year-old told his followers: “I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for coming live on Twitch to watch me and Michail play a FIFA London derby.

“I think it was a very very well deserved win, it could have been more but we’ll take what I can.

“And thank you USM for donating £1,000 for the charity MIND.”
