MANCHESTER UNITED target Islam Slimani boasts a better record in front of goal than ANY of their current strikers – except rookie Mason Greenwood.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is lining up a seemingly bonkers move for Leicester flop Slimani – currently on loan at Monaco.
Slimani, 31, managed just eight goals in 35 Premier League games for the Foxes, while going goalless in four matches on loan at Newcastle.
The Algerian then managed just ONE goal in 15 matches in the Turkish Super Lig with Fenerbahce.
But despite his frugal return in front of goal, Slimani – who has seven Ligue 1 goals in 13 games for Monaco – boasts a better goals per 90 minutes record than any United star bar Greenwood.
In Premier League matches, Slimani boasts an average of 0.44 goals per 90 minutes – a more than respectable tally.
The Leicester man sits above Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial (both 0.43 per 90) – as well as Daniel James (0.15).
Only 18-year-old Greenwood has a better ratio than Slimani, going at an incredible 0.61 goals per 90 minutes.
Solskjaer may need to persist with the teenager for now, too – with Rashford out injured and Martial in the midst of a woeful run of form.
But asking a youngster to carry the burden of leading the Man Utd line is hardly fair.
Now the Norwegian has been forced into the transfer market, with Rashford possibly out for the season with a stress fracture in his lower back.
Should he turn to Slimani, Solskjaer will hope the Algerian ace can recapture his Sporting Lisbon form.
Prior to his move to Leicester, the 68-cap international scored 48 times just 82 Primeira Liga games.
